I am a web developer working with a company that sells electric scooters online. We are currently extending the functionality of our affiliate marketplace – I am in the process of migrating the current marketplace to a solution based on Joomla + Virtuemart + VM Shopbuilder.

The objective of this project is to build a search bot that we can use to spider merchant’s websites and find new products that become available. We have affiliate relationships with lots of merchants that have yet to provide us with a product feed – so we are looking for a solution that will save us the time of regularly researching the product listings on their site. This search bot will need a control panel and the ability to deliver search reports to our web administrator.

As a PHP programmer, I realize that the accuracy of such a script will be rather poor. We currently have a custom script in place that we call the “Pricescrubber”. It contains most of the basic search functionality we describe below, so you will be able to hack through the existing code and appropriate anything you see fit. I will work with you to achieve the best result we can get while staying within our budget. We are also open to your own suggestions for the search methods employed here to improve efficiency and accuracy.

We are looking for the following features:

1. Search bot control panel (standalone or integrated into Joomla as a component)

a. Ability to add new merchant sites to be spidered

I have already created a KMZ file with a Google Earth Pro evaluation version. I have recorded a fly-through video of a path which is exactly what I want. I need someone with a valid Google Earth Pro license to re-record the video with a valid, licensed copy of Google Earth Pro so it won’t have the ‘Trial’ text overlay on the video.

The KMZ file is about 20 KB and if you PMB me, I will send you a copy for evaluation. The example video I want to re-record is 718 MB, so if someone will recommend a good secure file sharing site with password protection, I will post that for everyone’s evaluation also.

I want to re-create the video the same as the trial one I created. It is in PAL resolution, 8:16 long and 718 MB. My trial is expired so you will need to look at the trial video and try to find the right video rendering settings to re-create it.

You must have a valid license as this will be distributed to the public. Your computer should be able to render the video without problems.

If this comes out fine, I might want to throw in a bonus project of recording it in a format which will be easier to post on a website.

The script checks the bulletin coding by logging into the train account via myspace, and makes sure the bulletin is valid and is posted at least 10 minutes apart from other train bulletins. It also grabs the user’s friend id from the bulletin link “example: the &friendid= part of the bulletin link.” If the bulletin code is valid and has been posted long enough apart from previous bulletins, the rider is credited with one “proof” or valid bulletin. Riders are supposed to post a certain number of proofs each day and if their requirement isn’t met, the friend id is taken off the train automatically and put into “probation” until the missed bulletins are made up.
