Re-design Website Using Css
Anyone bidding on this project MUST provide evidence they actually read the description, looked at mockups, the existing website and acknowledge what we require, their area of expertise and several links to examples of their work that demonstrates their capabilities re web design using CSS.
The job: Flesh out design and produce website using CSS for layout so that it displays well in everything from a smartphone to full-size monitor and is compatible with recent versions of the most popular browsers. No Flash. Menus should be SSIs.
This is a complete makeover of CWAcanada.ca website. I’ve already started on the site rebuild (http://www.cwa-scacanada.ca/index12.html), but got bogged down with too much conflicting CSS. I resorted to using a table and placing within it a 1140px wide 12-column grid (http://cssgrid.net/) that is fluid all the way down to a mobile version. I’m finding that the grid might be too restrictive in terms of design so am open to suggestions.
Please refer to 2 mockups (composed of screen captures) for the following:
Horizontal tabbed menu/sub-menu underneath the CWA-SCA logo banner. (See http://prospect.org) I tried to duplicate it using a Spry widget in Dreamweaver CS5, but it doesn’t look as nice. I also would like the submenu to appear on mouseover, not when clicked.

My client originally wanted a photo-content slider/carousel to rotate 4-5 articles through, but 80 per cent of the articles I produce for the site do not have any art to run with them. In its place, I have proposed running an alternating panel of photos of union members in their workplaces. (See www.silveroaklimo.com for an example of this.) Like the limo site, this would essentially be an advertisement for the union.

Will need to imbed WordPress used as a CMS to display articles and photos that could be posted by members of the union’s executive. The ability to post comments at the end of articles is a good feature, too. Please offer ideas about how editorial content could be presented.
(The site is hosted with Lunarpages.com and includes access to CMSs and WordPress. See their Basic Package for details on what’s available.)

The union is getting into the social media side of things so will want those logos to be prominent on the home page.
Please make suggestions for giving prominence to advocacy campaigns (see current site) without the index page looking too busy or cluttered.
