Hi!
We are looking for someone to organize a Open Source project (please, don’t laugh!) to create a 3D courier simulation game (according to a survey we started in some well-known sites for coders, there is some interest in playing and helping to code and design such projects). We have some programmers, too, which will join when their current projects are done, but you will have to find some people who can code voluntarily.
This is NOT a Job Listing, as it’s supposed to be a one-time-payment. You can also quit, when you think the project organize itself w/o you. The reason to make it open source is simple: Anyone can give suggestions, and the entire community can decide, whether the idea is good or not. Plus: It’s free of charge for the users.
In the first year or so, we can pay for a domain and other things you might need. From the second year on, the project shoud be self-financing by ads (might be In-Game, too) and donations.
This is the information I provided in the survey with a little commentary:
All european (meaning UK, Ireland and Iceland, too, but not countries, which are not completely in Europe, like Russia or Turkey, yet) main roads and bigger cities should be available (cities don’t have to be 100% realistic, but well known POIs should be contained, like the Brandenburger Tor in Berlin) in the game in the end, first versions may contain less countries and streets, though. In later versions, other continents could be contained, too, but that is propably too far away. For each country, specific rules/laws and landmarks should be contained, traffic signs should also be country-specific. These rules should be policed at randomly generated points, fines have to be paid when delivering the cargo. There will also be country-specific toll (like toll badges in Austria) and customs (no customs between countries of the Schengen area, of course).
In the beginning, the player should own a bike, with which you can deliver small parcels and get little money, then you can buy a moped, car or truck, to deliver bigger cargo faster and for more money. With a bike, moped or car, there will be more customers (they will be tagged with a * on a parking space in front of their houses), with a truck you get the most money, though. Truck drivers get jobs at forwarders. They are marked on the map with a !.
To navigate, you have a map, which you can access by pressing M.
If I forgot to point out something, please let me know.
I know, that’s not something like a quotidian job, but we really can’t do it at the moment.
P.S.: Please, use open source scripts and programs for this project.
