The logo / banner you will be creating for “E-Sports Tournaments” will replace the current CG Contender Gaming on the top left of the site.

This site is being created to host video game tournaments for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Computer.

I will only accept a designer if they provide me with an example of their ideas for this project.

The site is a web front end to a gaming site.

The actual games are not a part of this project only the web front end to the site which includes social network functionality.

The site should be coded using the following technologies and frameworks.

JSP and JSTL, Tiles

Attached is a prototype which shows the parts of the site with user interaction. This prototype should be used to give an idea of how the site will function.

The XHTML/CSS and graphic design will be done by another programmer.

The site will have various functions. These include:

1) Creating and maintaining user account details.

2) Enabling registered users to create their own tournaments and respond to tournament invitations.

3) Calculating player game statistics and rankings.

4) Enabling registered users to add credits and view the financial status.

5) Enabling registered users to add friends and send emails to friends.

6) Also as part of this project is the setup (and possible customization) of an open source Java forum (javabb). Enabling registered users to post messages on the forum and all users to read messages.

The coder should have good communication skills and provide regular updates. The code should be well commented.

It is very important that the code is well structured and easy to maintain.

We are interested in developing long term relationships with coders who are interested in working on future similar projects.

Most of the database tables and fields have been defined although there may be changes or additions. We have also portions of code that can be used from similar projects.

Tournaments

There are two types of tournaments regular system generated tournaments and player created tournaments.

The web interface does two things regarding tournaments:

1) Allows players to create their own tournaments.

a) If the player does not have enough credits to accept an invitation to a tournament he/she should be asked to add more credits before being allowed to accept the tournament where the tournament requires credits.

b) If a payer has accepted a tournament created by another user they should not be allowed to accept another tournament that will start at the same time.

Tournaments created by users should be displayed in the creators time and the registered users time zones.

Tournament invitations will be sent as an email to users. The user clicks a link in the email to accept or reject the tournament.

2) Display information on system generated tournaments. This information is read from a database. The results of previous tournaments and the times of upcoming tournaments.

The system generated tournaments should be displayed in the server time zone and GMT.

The following rankings tables should be calculated and displayed.

I host a gaming website powered by joomla. I need some sort of plugin for joomla where registered users can form (and join) teams and then enter tournaments. Tournaments are to be hosted by the site (not by users) and probably added through the admin back end. I would also like there to be a system to display results of matches in the front end.

Multiple types of tournaments are required. Ladder ( league ) and single elimination ( bracket ) styles.

As far as I know I hope that team size does not need a limit. But I’d like the option for it.

Game Cards: This would be a sort of clone of http://steamcard.com but takes it past that with integration to there jomsocial profile, like able to add it to there profile or not or add it to there reviews, videos, etc etc. With more designs and updated every hour than waiting 6 hours. Also I need support with the website unlimited after the sites completion, and with the steamcards and gametracker i need new designs monthly for the new games. Because only the frontend of the DB is visible on those sites, the developer will need to design and create the the pages that cannot be seen. For the most part those pages are the data input and display for the admins that will input the club, team, tournament, referee, contact and facility info. We need to be able separate playing seasons from each other. The teams are setup as age groups, and each year, the clubs needs to be able to create all new teams, even though the teams may have the same name, the team in 2009 is different from the team in 2010. At start of the new season, we need to be able to start over with new teams, tournaments, seeding and ranking for that new season.

I think the easiest way to do separate seasons is to have an admin option that lets the admin (me) start a new season by changing a season variable setting to the next season. All teams and tournaments created after this would be created for the new season. Clubs should be able to start with all of the same team names and players as the previous season, but until they update, they would not be able to associate with an Event in the new season because the SEASON_CODE variable won’t match. This would also make it so that we can have an option on the site to see previous season’s results.

Obviously, the views showing data for the season needs to filter via the SEASON_CODE variable set by the admin. To view a previous season’s info, the user would choose a season from a dropdown, and the table would show whichever season is chosen by the user, instead of the variable set by the admin.

I did a quick write up of the data fields so that I could show relationships and the data that is needed. I am not a DB admin, so do not rely on this for creating the database. I am certain that there will be more tables and data fields than I have listed.
