WordPress Twitter Plugin

August 13th, 2009 Comments off

I need a WordPress twitter plugin created.

The plugin will require a license key before it will work and the license key will only work for 1 blog installation. If the user wants to install the plugin on a second blog, they will need another license key. All of the license keys will be stored on a central php file on my server.

After the plugin is activated and the license key is entered, the plugin will start working. The plugin should have a settings page which will allow the user to put in their twitter login information and click save. They will have the option to delete this twitter profile and change it at any time.

Heres how the plugin works.

When a user successfully installs this plugin it will start to update their twitter account (the one they entered in the settings page) whenever they add a new post to their WordPress blog and it will ALSO retweet their message to over 100 other twitter profiles that I have created. These other 100 twitter profiles will be kept hidden from the plugin user and will be stored on a central php file on my server.

The plugin will post to twitter in these formats:

(blog url goes here) : (blog title goes here)

and this message will be retweeted to the other 100 twitter accounts listed on my central php file in this format.

RT (at symbol)username_of_plugin_user (blog title goes here) : (blog url goes here)

All of these posts made to twitter will be from the API

And to save WordPress from freezing when the user tries to save their post, I will need all of these updates to be sent to my server where they will be put into a que and every 20 minutes will be sent to twitter using a cron job. This should save WordPress from freezing while it waits for all the twitter accounts to be updated.

I will also need the URLs in the twitter updates to use a URL shortening service. The URL shortening service I recommend it http://bit.ly/ This has an API that you can tie into.

If you can’t find a url shortening service that you can do this with I have a URL where you can build your own url shortening script to tie into this script.

I will also need the script created so that it doesn’t post anything to twitter longer than 140 characters and if the twitter posts are going to be longer than that it will have to cut the blog title down.

=======================

I will choose a programmer right away for this project and I will need to see a working demo ASAP. I would like to begin work right NOW. I will be selecting someone who has good feedback rating and who is bidding within my budget.

Html+css Rework Layout + Flash

August 6th, 2009 Comments off

My client has a current site at http://idtsoa.com/. They want the home page redesigned with Flash added. I have the revised home page concept (including the 4 Flash “slides”) in a layered Photoshop file.

The two deliverables (to be uploaded to http://s271686403.onlinehome.us/idtsoa/, which is not a live site) are:
1 – Home page redesigned and tested with Flash included (one HTML file, one CSS file, images, .fla and .swf).
2 – Interior page template (one HTML tested HTML file, images, and accompanying CSS), saved as http://s271686403.onlinehome.us/idtsoa/insurance/main.htm. I will personally be building out the other pages of the site.

FLASH PORTION SPECIFICATIONS:
- Only the portion of the page that changes — the part in the dark gray box (including the box itself) — should be done in Flash. The rest of the page should be done in HTML+CSS.
- I will provide the font and I want the text to be done in Flash — not as a static image — so that it can be edited on an ongoing basis. So I will want both the .fla and .swf files.
- The version of Flash required for the site visitor should be version 8 or lower.
- The order of the Flash sequence is as follows:
1. Business
2. Individual
3. Associations & Affiliates
4. Insurance and Financial Pros
- Each slide should stand still for 20 seconds before changing to the next slide.
- Transition effect should be a fade between slides.
- There is a Flash control needed — the user will need to be able to mouse over each of the four slide names at the bottom of the big gray box and click on the name they want. Upon mousing over any of the names, the name turns yellow and the white triangle slides to move below it. On click, it turns white. The “on page” state is shown, which is yellow. Once the user clicks on one of these names, the slide stays fixed on his selection and no more transitions happen unless he reloads the page.
- When the user clicks on the “details” word or icon next to the word within the Flash gray box, the word “Details” will change to white, and it will take the user to a page link that is dependent upon the slide the user is on at the time. In addition, if the user clicks ANYWHERE on the slide EXCEPT the “controls” area described above, he should be taken to one of the pages listed below (dependent upon which slide he is currently seeing). Here are the slides and what each page’s link should be:
1. Business – business/main.htm
2. Individual – individual/main.htm
3. Associations & Affiliates – associations/main.htm
4. Insurance and Financial Pros – insurance/main.htm
- If the end user doesn’t have Flash, the first slide (“Business”) should appear as a static graphic that when clicked on, goes to business/main.htm.

SITE-WIDE HTML+CSS specifications (see attached interior page template for look and feel):
- Default font site-wide should change to Arial.
- All copy on interior pages remains the same.
- To make your job easier, the width of the pages and width of the navigation is the same as the current site.
- I need the new top navigation “tabs” look implemented site-wide (site is less than 20 pages, all done as static HTML). The on page state and mouse-over state should look like the “Insurance & Financial Pros” tab does in the navigation on the attached mock up.
- Navigation tabs should be done as <li>s for easy ongoing editing.
- Navigation tab size should look as they do on the mockup — each tab has a width specific to it.
- Page needs to validate with W3C.
- Page needs to be tested in IE and other major browsers (I can provide access to a fast testing system if you want to use mine) to ensure that navigation works and the page design does not degrade.
- Page background on all pages (outside of white area for main page content) should change to yellow as shown in mockup.
- Positioning of elements and styling should be done within the style sheet whenever possible, not in the HTML.
- Copy existing Meta data and page titles.
- Page needs to scale taller if more text is entered in ANY of the three columns.
- Middle column needs to expand to fill space where right column is now if there is no right column content.
- Link color, bullet style and h1, h2 and h3 styles should be done as shown in attached file.
- In the sidebar, the the twitter icon and text next to it should link to http://twitter.com/idtsoa
- Also in the sidebar, the LinkedIn icon and text next to it should link to http://www.linkedin.com/companies/id-theft-solutions-of-america

HOME PAGE HTML+CSS Specifications:
- Navigation tabs should be done as described in the section above.
- The current little slideshow feature on the existing http://idtsoa.com/index.htm page should be moved to the bottom right corner of the home page and made shorter (as shown in mockup), but not so short that any of the images are cropped (cropping white space is o.k., cropping the colored part of an image is not).
- The “Join this list” and “Associations & Affiliates” in the bottom right corner box on the home page need to be links to associations/main.htm.
- The About Us box header (lower half of home page) should be a link to about/main.htm
- The Latest News box header (also lower half of home page) should be a link to about/main.htm
- All the boxes’ bottom lines need to line horizontally — so they should be fixed heights.
- In the “Follow us Online” box, the the twitter icon should link to http://twitter.com/idtsoa
- Also in the “Follow us Online” box, the LinkedIn icon should link to http://www.linkedin.com/companies/id-theft-solutions-of-america
- Also plug in the twitter feed in the “Follow us Online” box: the RSS source is http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/43347288.rss
- Text that is in blue anywhere on the page should be links.

Please review the site debtconsolidation.allin1page.com

we are looking for modular solutions scripts. we are not looking for an overall website coding – we do that here.

we want you to write customizable scripts which will be included into our website design

SCRIPT 1: RSS Feed Display

what the RSS Feed script does:
- Script displays in a defined sized BOX on our webpage articles from a RSS feed we specify
- the size of the box are defined and changeable by us (not webpage visitor)
- the font size and style specifics are defined and changeable by us (not webpage visitor)
- the date of the individual rss item can be displayed or not, toggled by us (not webpage visitor)
- the length of the preview of the article is defined and changeable by us (not webpage visitor)

the script has to have the following attributes

- The script can be directly included as a widget into our page’s HTML
- WE can customize the number of stories from the feed which appear by us (not webpage visitor)
- WE can include this script into any of our web pages and configure it
- BOX size can be customized by us (not webpage visitor)
- BOX font, color and style can be customized by us (not webpage visitor)
- RSS article date display can be switched on or off by us (not webpage visitor)
- Widget/Script has to run locally (on server) not run remotely (no ASP)
- No hidden links/trademarks/linbacks
- Text generated by the script in the box displayed in the web page should be spyder readable/friendly by robots like Google, Yahoo, etc…. The spyders should pick up the words in the text of the RSS

SCRIPT 2: Twitter Search &amp; Follow

what the Twitter Search &amp; Follow Feed script does:
- Script displays in a defined sized BOX on our website, twitters from
(a) person followed (identified by us, not the webpage visitor)
(b) twitter text search (such as #finance or #mac)
- the size of the box are defined and changeable by us (not webpage visitor)
- the font size and style specifics are defined and changeable by us (not webpage visitor)
- the date of the individual twitter item can be displayed or not, toggled by us (not webpage visitor)

the script has to have the following attributes

- The script can be directly included as a widget into our page’s HTML
- WE can customize the number of tweets from the feed which appear by us (not webpage visitor)

To clarify, we are looking for two CUSTOMISABLE scripts which can be integrated into existing web pages. One displays news headlines from RSS feeds, the other one from a search of Twitter API. Both these scripts have to generate text which can be picked up by Google robot/spider as opposed to the the script itself. To be clear, when the web page is generated (for the viewer or from the spider) the web page MUST include the text of the articles headlines and the text of the twitter entries identified, so that the words are counted in the spyder’s scoring of the page for keyword repetition and SEO purposes.

We need to be able to customize the formatting of the result text (size, font, etc….) and we need to be able to customize (a) the RSS feed details and (b) the twitter search term, like #motorcycle or #obama

Not sure if you want to write this in PHP but let us know what makes more sense.

If you can do it, please write us back with details of your planned implementation. We are looking to start right away.
