The chat must have the following features.
User must be logged in the main website

Psychic Advice/psychic Site

July 6th, 2009 Comments off

Essentially, I need a complete website that can be used for one-on-one chat sessions and incorporates a billing system for clients. The chat system can be any language, really, as long as it alerts the webhost to an incoming caller. Clients should be able to register and input personal information (billing information, specifically), while the webmaster should have a control panel to set a per-minute rate. Using a CMS as a base is fine. The site need not be complicated and as such, sometimes simplicity is best. A per-minute billing script can be used, the chat software need not be programed, just one incorporated. The most /important/ ability that the chat software needs to have is to alert the webhost that someone is trying to contact them (a pop-up or such). It should be entirely web-based. Please only post serious inquiries. We are hoping to keep the cost of the project down, though hoping for it to be completed within, at most, two months. Thank you.

Php/mysql Based Chatroom

June 27th, 2009 Comments off

Hello there. I am seeking an experienced programmer to design a php-mysql driven chatroom.
Before you bid, I recommend that you lookup and test out a demo of phpMyChat. However, this is only optional. Please note that this project will be somewhat based on the phpMyChat software. If you are familiar with phpMyChat, you will understand everything in this project, without a doubt.

***I would prefer someone who has worked on chatrooms before***
***Please do not just ignore this project because of confusion! If some of these points are difficult for you, please let me know! We can negotiate!***

Please do not tell me that my requirements are impossible (someone on another site said this). phpMyChat was created almost a decade ago and has most of these features (I guess you can say that I want an updated version of phpmychat basically).

Feature Requirements:
- I want a fully featured PHP MySQL chatroom.

- No frames, please. PHP uses frames and it’s terrible. If possible, DIVS and TABLES only. While it is only OPTIONAL, an AJAX powered chat WOULD BE NICE. If you are not knowledgeable in AJAX, that is fine. But if you are, please tell me.

- The chatroom should have the capability to support multiple rooms. I would like the ability to create default rooms (room that will always be there) My users should be able to create public and password protected private rooms (these rooms will be wiped after they are left empty). When a user creates his own room, he/she will be the moderator of it. Meaning, they can /kick and /ban users from the room. They can also edit the room’s description.

- Sessions would be nice versus cookies.

- User-levels. Administrator, Global Moderator, Moderator, User. Moderators are essentially users, but they have the power to kick, ban and change of the description of a room that THEY CREATED. (Ex. Tom is user, he wants to create a room. He is the moderator of it and he can kick any troublesome users out if he likes.)

- Messages should be timestamped. Infact, this is the format that they should be in: “(Jun 27th) 14:23:14 [Username] [message]” (without brackets around the message). Action messages should be
bracketless and bolded. Example: “(Jun 27th) 15:63:14 Username message”. Users should be able to use <b>, <i>, and <u> tags for sending messages. The character limit on the text box for

- The chatroom should have user profiles. The user should be able to edit their profile using a simple interface (no richtext editors). Username, password, gender, e-mail, description and photo url should be editable. The description field should only allow the <center></center>, <b></i>, <i></i>, and <u></u> tags. Any other tags should not be executed.

- phpMyChat uses IRC-style commands. (ie. /kick, /ban, /ignore, /join [Room name]). Because of this, we would like the chatroom to use IRC STYLED commands to perform various functions.
Function-list (cmds):
– The ability to /kick or /ban a user (must be a moderator/administrator)
– Ability to change font color using a hex value.
– A ‘clear’ function. This function should clear the screen of all messages, giving the user a clean screen.
– An invite function. This comes in handy for inviting staff members (admins and mods) for help or inviting a friend to a private room.
– Personal messages, or whispers. A user should be able to send private messages to other users who are currently in the chat. Users should receive them in the chat, as: “(Jun 27th) 23:25:11 [User whispers to User] message”
– Action commands. (ie. /me walks away, : walks away, /she walks away, /he walks away) . The posts should be bolded.
– Status function. User should be able to select “Available”, “Busy” and “Away” from a drop down list.
– A function to create rooms. Users should be able to create rooms in the chat by typing “/room roomnamehere”. If its a private room, “/pvtroom roomnamehere passwordhere”

Staff ONLY Functions
– An announcement function. This function will be exclusive to administrators and specific moderators only. Basically, this function allows a staff member to type a message and propagate it through the entire chat (as in, every room)
– Ability to view, delete and edit users and their profiles
– Ability for the administrator to promote users to Mods, Global Mods and Admins.

****All functions except /kick, /ban, /room, /pvtroom, and the action commands (/me, /she, /he, : ) should be placed into a user panel. Users should have a link to open their panel. Staff only functions will be in a separate panel, obviously only accessible by staff. Staff should have a link to open their panel. ****

Any questions may be asked in the PMB. Happy bidding!

Perl Chat / Internet Explorer

June 10th, 2009 Comments off

I am using a cgi/Perl chat application named Ralf’s Chat. I have used this website a few times before for this application. Many of our Internet Explorer users constantly have to refresh the page because it is giving the error “Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Page” every few minutes. On Mozilla Firefox the same issue happens except it says “Network Timeout”.

If anyone needs to know, the chat room auto-refreshes itself every so many seconds to load and post new messages.

I know of other sites who use this software and do not have these problems. The chat room used to not do this. A friend told me that it may be because the chat is “leaking memory”? I am determined that this issue can be solved since other websites use this same chat software and do not have this problem. They have stated that they had to modify the Perl code to get it to work right.

I know the issue is not because of my server, I am using a dedicated server that has top of the line speed and plenty of space. I have also used this chat on other servers and encountered the same thing.

I have attached a screenshot of the errors on Firefox Basically all I need is a Perl programmer (with plenty of experience) to take a look at the entire script and find a resolution for the problem. My chat members are getting very frustrated with this and so am I! Someone please help??

If needed, the name of the software is Ralf’s Chat and the original software can be found and downloaded from www.ralfchat.com

Simple Chat Bot

May 13th, 2009 Comments off

I am trying to make a program to send text to a chat site…

I am making a program for the chat site to automatically give out announcements etc.

The chat is in flash.. theres an HTML version but it also uses flash (I think)

Here is the link to the ‘html’ version… I viewed the source and it seems like it uses a swf file still?
The link will auto login for you
http://www.epokerchat.com/123flashchat/client/htmlchat/ChatApplication.html?init_user=test&init_password=test&init_group=default&init_dir=

http://www.epokerchat.com is the link to the flash version … username test password test

Anyone have any idea how to do this?

Id be happy if there was some way i can use WebBrowser1 to load the page in the VB program and just have a simple timer that sends the announcement every X minutes or something.

Program must be done in VB6.0

Theres also a downloadable version of the chat at http://www.epokerchat.com/setup.exe that puts the swf files on your computer (if you need them for anything)

I will also need the program to be able to read the text in the chat.. send text to the chat.. and get a list of the members online.

Thanks

Web Developer For Chat Site

April 18th, 2009 Comments off

I want to create a Web site with multiple chat rooms based on XMPP open-source server software such as Openfire.

Requirements:

1. Ajax client. Does not need ANY client software beyond a browser (no Java, no Flash).

2. Users require a user name and password, which any visitor can create.

3. Users can create their own chat rooms and assign a password to the room.

4. IMPORTANT: Each chat room has its own unique Web address. If you have a user account, you can enter the chat room merely by visiting that unique Web address or clicking a link sent in email. (For example, rooms you create at www.webchattr.com are like this.) If users who click the link are not already registered, they are first prompted to join before they can enter.

5. Chat rooms must have an “Ignore User” function.

6. Revenue will be generated from banners and Google AdSense.

7. Solution must be built on a highly scalable open source foundation.

8. Optional: All users that create a room can also delete a room or change the room’s password.

9. Optional. Video capabilities for chat rooms. Users can see approx. six other users at a time. Every video feed is labeled with the appropriate user’s name.

10. There is one other very simple but innovative chat feature the software must include. I will reveal this required feature to the party chosen to develop the software. Before I do so, the party must first sign an NDA, and then we can renogatiate the costs if need be.

Questions for the developer candidate:

A. What is your total time and cost estimate to complete this project?

B. Please detail your web programming experience and provide samples of previously coded websites.

C. When can you begin?

Other Specifications:

1. I want the chat functionality to be unicode-compatible and able to handle input and output in all major languages. I also want a basic set of emoticons available in all chat rooms.

2. Users in the same room can sent private messages to each other. These private messages will appear in pop-up windows. All chat windows, whether private messages or conference windows, will include Google AdSense and/or banner advertising.

3. I will provide much assistance in choosing the look and layout. In general, the look of the site must be very clean, clear, bold, and soft/rounded. Not boxy, busy, or wordy. No pop-ups, no preloading.

4. Scalability is a concern. Solution must be able to expand to clusters. (It is my understanding that XMPP-based software can be clustered.)

“FAQ”:

Q1. Is it right to assume that users will access their accounts only on website?

Yes, there will be no client beyond a Web browser. However, if they have cookies from the Web site saved, they don’t need to log in and can go straight to a chat room.

Q2. What will be the process of joining the chat rooms created by other users? Can chat room creator invite other users by sending mail?

Yes, the chat room creator can invite others by sending email. In fact, that is the main way that chat room creators will invite others. The chat room creator can also delete the room or change the password for the room at any time.

Q3. The banners and google ads will be displayed on home page only or on chat pages too ?

Banners and Google ads are displayed only chat pages, not the home page.

Q4. If the rooms are password protected, is it that only invited users can join the room ?

No, anyone with the password can join the room. Some recipients of an invitation might not be members. They will click on a room link and be required to create an account before connecting to the chat room.

Create Chat Room

April 17th, 2009 Comments off

Project is to create a chat room, on my website polargammon com

When clicking on Chat room on the top right, LOGGED-IN members will be able to go in.
Non-registerd/logged-in members will be directed to chatroom window popup saying something like :
“Access denied”
You need to login to chat.
Close

If the user is logged-in, he will go in the chatroom popup window on the default category “General”

Room could for example look like this :

Users list on left: Category on right:
Users list (6)

player1 | | General (15)
player2 | | Connect Four (20)
player5 | space | Backgammon (16)
player6 | | Warcraft 3 (4)
etc.

space etc

Chat space

and the place to write messages and send…

This should look like this for now, pretty basic room, when the website will be more advanced features might be added, and directly in chat room, for example clicking on a member and seeing his profile in the chat room.
So if you are interesting in working with me long term and improving the chat room when the time will be, it’s a great opportunity!

Also, the chat room has to look good, you can add some design/images or even some flash designs, I want a quality room.

Thanks!!

Chat Room

April 5th, 2009 Comments off

I need to design and market a new website. The website will be a chat room where members can meet and talk about a specific topic. The individual chat rooms will be sorted by country, city, area. There will be an annual fee for members to use the chat room. Members will be able to upload photos to the chat room where other members can view. The chat room will be business/investment related.

I have the domain name and currently have a homepage set up.
I will have to be able to review each post/upload before they go live. This is to prevent members using the chat room for marketing discriminating or other unwanted purposes.

Please provide a price and also a list of similar work done.

Fetch 2d Graphical Chat

March 19th, 2009 No comments

Ideally, we would like to continue working with whoever does this. We will need contact with them to repair and add things; we would love for you to be a regular face and member of our administration. I would love to get to know you before working on this project with you, because it will be a long term project

Our project:

This is going to be a 2D chat, all artwork provided, using mainly flash and JavaScript to have the avatars in sync with the actual chat engine. We also need HTML, CCS, skill with data basing, etc.

There will be 3 levels of chat “administration”. Each level will be one separate group, with different sets of permissions. Databases will be needed, for each separate group. Permissions will be things such as IP banning from the chat (not the homepage) as well as an in-chat ban (where users will be banned to one specific area of the chat…a sort of “time out”), “kick” options such as removing a user from the entire chat, removing a user from one specific area (one-time only), etc. More details on permissions will be given at a later time.

If this is confusing, please check out these sites:

http://www.wolfhome.com
http://www.thetotemlands.com

Everything you see on those sites are basically what we need.

These should shed some light on the basic idea of what we are looking for in a graphical chat. Right now I’m just looking for a basic skeleton; have the chat work and all graphics to be in place. No difficult ideas will be implemented early on; these will be added in later after we get the basic stuff running smoothly.

Please pay specific attention to the overall look of the the link I provided; there are several “rooms” your avatar can visit…there are several “poses” your avatar can change into. We will be allowing users to eventually upload their own rooms and poses to use in-chat, so an “uploader” will be needed.

Also, each avatar is “tricolored”, meaning that users can change the color of their character as they please. I will be implementing this as well.

We appreciate the time you undoubtedly took to go over this search, and hope to find someone interested in helping us with this project. More details can be discussed at anytime.

You can contact me on anytime.

I will be happy to talk over any payment with you as well.
