I want to build a product order management system.
There is no need for paypal or other online payments. Just a simple data entry of the product(s), quantity and customer shipping information.

There are 3 main users:
1. Agents – They will key in orders of products and customer details (or select existing customers)
2. Wholesaler – Will manually approve orders that have been verified as paid (by clicking a checkbox)
3. Supplier – Once wholesaler approves, suplier will handle shipping and update the status of products as shipped, and enter a shipping tracking code.

More info and requirements:
1. Each product will have a separate cost for agent and wholesaler. (Example: Agent buys product X from Wholesaler at $10. Wholesaler buys the same product X from Supplier at $5. Supplier will then ship directly to customer.

2. There will be multiple customers, belonging to multiple agents. Customers are not unique to agents.

3. There will be only one wholesaler (me)

4. There will be one supplier for now (but please design the system to be able to add more suppliers in future)

5. Agents can only see orders they entered, and not from other agents
6. Supplier will be able to process orders grouped by agents

Some reporting tools we need:
1. List of un-approved orders to be seen by wholesaler
2. List of un-shipped products to be seen by agents, wholesaler and supplier
3. Wholesaler able to see sales performance by week, month, year. Including total sales and total profit

I’ve recently been let down by a developer who was employed to create an application that sits between my eBay store and my supplier.

The main function of this application was be to keep the eBay store listings synchronised with my supplier’s products. The application would needed the following functionality:

1) The ability to upload a CSV file into the application’s database, this CSV would contain details of the book’s ISBN, EBay auction ID, Availability and current price. As I add more and more listings, I will need drop the current database and upload all store listings (current and new) in a new CSV.
2) Twice a day, the web application will query each book’s ISBN from its database and compare it with the book’s information on my supplier’s site via it’s API and apply the following rules:
i) No changes

The overall operation is divided into 3 parts, of which 2 are to be asked to develop and is developing as a part.

It would better when there’re making the list, the list should be categorized. So the person how make the order from supplier can easily separate the product
3) We need another functionally , its like a bidding for example ( lets say all 5 retail shop owners together they need 50 Hp Inks, 30 Cannon Inks , we can able to send this list to all the supplier that they distribute inks, then suppliers can send us there best offer to us. Then we can chose the best suppliers
4) Another functionality , this is between the 5 retail shop owners sharing there products ( for example lets Say Shop Owner-A he can make request from other 4 shop owners if they have any additional Product-X or Shop Owner-A can make a post that he have a extra Product-X if anybody wants it)

1) Each product will still need a supplier (that can be selected from a drop down of all suppliers).

– Set up supplier details in database (name, address etc)
– Select the supplier for each product individually (from drop down)
– Supplier will not be shipping goods, we will be shipping goods

2) We would like an order report created everyday (that will be checked 3 times a day) with customers who have bought products, customer details, product details and supplier for each product. We would like the supplier to be in a drop down as we may want to change the supplier (in case we can get it cheaper elsewhere) Once we are happy with the orders, there should be a button to press submit. This will send an email to all suppliers a list of products we would like to purchase from them.

This will allow suppliers to send the products to the shop and then they will ship them directly to customer

3)We would like to have an easy stock control system which allows us to manually update the stock online. I do not know if Magento can do this, but it will something like the following:

- Should be a table format with following fields: Product (drop down), Current Quantity on web (number), Quantity bought from suppliers (number), Quantity sold in shop (number), Quantity remaining (calculates current quantity + quantity bought – quantity sold) and updates the system accordingly

- User should be able to add another product for the next row so he can edit as many products as he wants.

There should be an undo button, or a way or making sure mistakes can be reversed.

In Magento, I have seen that you can go directly into each product and change, but this would make it easy to do a lot of products at the same time. If this feature is not already inbuilt in Magento, you can let us know if you can build such as requirement.

The products in the list and in our product database need to be synchronized every day to disable discontinued products and adjust price changes that take effect from the .xls or CSV file. Our suppliers keeps a file in .xls or CSV format in a password protected directory that is updated every day and is periodically assigned a new password to access it. The products in the list and in our product database need to be synchronized every day to disable discontinued products and adjust price changes that take effect from the .xls or CSV file. We also will have a margin table lookup file that will have to be cross referenced in order to determine the correct pricing. Below is an example of the process:
Get file from supplier directory -> Apply prices based on margins set in lookup file -> Set prices accordingly and disable discontinued items in Magento Cart.

I have a code to submit values from child page to the parent page but some of the inputs I take values from are conditional or repeat – defined by php and the values are not transferred. The child page lists product details with supplier information. For each product there can be more than one supplier options: each option has one or two suppliers. This is stored in table ProductsJoinSuppliers where I have fields for the product_id, supplier_id and supplier2_id.
On top of this each supplier has contacts and this information also has to be transferred to the parent page.

At the moment only the following are transferred: (product)code and (product)name. supplier_id is transferred only when only one exists (when there’s more it doesn’t transfer).

This is what I’ll expect you to do:
1. supplier_id, supplier_contact, supplier2_id and supplier2_contact must be transferred to parent page
2. when user selects supplier_id with the radio button, supplier2_id from the same table is selected as well
3. I will not give you any passwords for the server, for testing you’ll need to use your own server

We are looking to create an ecommerce site using Magento. The site will contain about 1500-2000 products related to hardware tools.

The design will be provided by us, but would like to liase with developer to see which elements can be styled and designed (i.e. icons, boxes etc)

The key features that we would like using magento are:
1) very good search and compare facility
2) Easy reporting for sales, VAT, refunds, stock control etc
3) related items, product upselling
4)special promotion, clearance stores
5) powerful tax system that allows for international users

There are two main features we require that magento doesn’t provide off-the-shelf:

1) the products we sell are going to be dispatched by our suppliers, not us, even though customer will buy from our site. Each time a product is bought, the supplier of that product needs to be sent an email, which includes product details, customer details, and a packing slip, but not the customers email address. From the customers point of view, the product has come through us.

For the admin, we want to have an extra field for each product that lets us select the supplier of that product from a dropdown menu. This is the supplier which will then get an email once that particular project has been bought. It should be simple to change the supplier if we buy the product from another supplier.

This extension had been suggested http://www.magentocommerce.com/extension/2243/magento-embedded-erp but it doesn’t seem to carry out the requirements

2) Linking Magento to Sage. Here is an extension that seems to do it: http://www.holbi.co.uk/modules-for-oscommerce/product/item/magento-connector-for-sage-line-50/. If you can provide a cheaper alternative, we will consider it.

3) We have a partner company. If the user searches for an item and can’t find it on our site, we would like a pop-up or a message in the content area that links to our partner company.

We have some questions regarding Magento, that we would like the developer to answer.

1) Magento is open source, what is the likelihood that support for this will run out in future?
2) if the developer customises Magento in the way described above, will future upgrades of the software still work fine?
3) Are you able to create bespoke reports that are not provided?
4) Can we change what attributes we sort the products by? (i.e. the default values are price etc, can we sort by voltage as well, for example)
5) With the newsletter can it create different groups automatically? – i.e. top ten spenders on our site? Or does this have to be done manually
6) Price: Can we set price as a % of cost? i.e. Price for a brand of goods should be 20% higher than the cost?
