We have just taken on an umanaged VPS which we need setting up – it currently has an os on and cpanel which is installed but not setup.

We need someone to setup and secure our server, and configure our domain ready for us to upload our site via ftp. We also need cgi scripts to run, mysql and php running.

We have a horde/qmail issue. Can access web interface but not able to login. This is a quick fix that we dont have time to handle.

But When i restart my system and saw the quick link option again its not working same as previous one.

I had a shared hosting plan with Host Gator and quickly outgrew it. I’ve purchased a virtual private server from VPSLand and now I need my websites, databases, email accounts, etc. migrated. Ok my problem started when i moved servers. My joomla site is unable to write to the configuration file with and without joomla’s ftp layer enabled. My other site also complained about permissions after running a few test i came to the conclusion that its a problem with how php is being ran.

I’ve setup virtualmin control panel with a LAMP stack on a centos 5.2 distro.
I can’t get the permissions right. From what i’ve read my php scripts aren’t able to write to files or ftp because php is running as mod_php so instead should be running as mod_fcgid with suEXEC. Both mod_fcgid and suEXEC are installed. I just need my virtual servers to be configured to use them and also for the virtualmin settings to be adjusted so that any future virtual servers automatically use them.

This is from my own accessment. It may be best to check out the server setup or whatever and determine why my php scripts can’t write to files or use ftp. My user has sudo access, i have root access as well but i am reluctant to letting anyone use root. Only if absolutely necessary

Hello, My company and I are making a website. Our site is called Penny2Bid. We havn’t really done much to the site yet, because we need a script for the penny action. Here is everything we need from the penny action script. We don’t have a huge budget here so I don’t think we can spend more than $300 at the moment. Here are the features we need

1) Penny Bid system, with a nice template, a my account page, and basically something similar to swoopo.

2)We need it to be able to handle some users – at least like 50 for the each bid and people online have to be like at least 200 right now.

3)We need to be able to make multiple bids at one time probably like at least 10. We would want a site also close to www.bidray.com

4)We want the bidray style bidding, so where it is there is a set time limit. Then it starts at say 10:00 and the timer starts at 2 mins and counts down to 0 and everytime a bid is placed the timer restarts. And we would need the time and everything to be customizable.

5)Again we need a script with probably the help page, my account, place to be able to buy bids and everything of that sort. So it looks close to bidray and swoopo, with our own twist.

-As long as it works well, the lower price the better and maybe if it is too expensive we can make a deal where we pay half now and half later after we get it up and running.

-We would also like a demo of it or something to see what it looks like and to make sure it works with our site.

Own server running freebsd, perl, mysql has recently been running very slow and timing out. This server is running our 2 websites.

Reboot box and all is fine again for a while.

Site users are leaving so we need to get this resolved ASAP.

TOP shows high CPU % from perl and mysql during problem times. Often down to 0% CPU

I have a server that has become very sluggish the tech support states that its due to constant UPDATES in MySQL on a particular domain. If I disable the domain the problem goes away but I can’t afford to have it disabled. I am running Vbulletin and WordPress on that site along with a few pluggins. What I need is for an MySQL expert to pin-point what is causing the issue of constantly UPDATE so I can get the server speed back to normal. This is a Linux Server, Plesk, Fedora Core.

I am not looking for someone to just tell me its WordPress or Vbulletin, the site requires these programs and I can’t stop using them. Your going to have to be willing to find out what setting or error on the site is causing this. Its been going on for the last month and a half.
