The project is for the site BankrollSports.com (please check all URLS)
(a)
‘Site Homepage’:
http://www.bankrollsports.com
BankrollSports.com has a ‘regular page layout’ and a ‘blog layout’ (or ‘wordpress theme’)
(b)
‘Blog Index’ / ‘WordPress Blog Theme’ / ‘blog home’ / ‘blog’
http://www.bankrollsports.com/blog/
(c)
‘Regular Content Page’ / ‘regular site layout’ / ‘SSI site layout’ / ‘regular page layout’
Example: http://www.bankrollsports.com/NFL-Football/Previews/index.shtml **
The ‘regular site layout’ is an shtml page (created with an HTML editor) that includes the following SSI panels:
Includes / SSI Panels:
‘bankrollsports.com/b_ssi/header.htm’ for the header and left panel
‘bankrollsports.com/b_ssi/footer.htm’ for the footer and right panel
Please take a look at the above panels and the “Regular Page” link….
Besides the above includes, the page’s main content and page’s header tags are the only things on each .shtml page.
(d)
‘Blog Post’ / ‘blog post layout’ / ‘WordPress Theme Post’
Example: http://www.bankrollsports.com/blog/college-footballs-top-25-games-in-2011-georgia-vs-florida/
A ‘Blog Post” is post using the “Post” function in WordPress which publishes in the “WordPress Blog Theme”
(e)
‘Blog Page Layout” / “Blog Page”
A ‘Blog Page” is created using the “Add New” under the “Page” section in WordPress
(f)
‘Arron’
Arron is a paid content writer that works for me.
How The Site Currently Works…
‘Blog Post’ (c) Steps:
Currently when ‘Arron’ wants to create a ‘blog post’, he will…..
1 Log-in into the WordPress admin area and click the “Add Post” link.
2. Like a regular wordpress blog, once he publishes it, the post automatically gets added to the ‘blog theme’ and is also listed on the ‘blog index’.
This works the way I want it to and don’t want this altered in anyway.
‘Regular Page’ (c) Steps:
The steps ‘Arron’ (and I) take to create a ‘regular page’ which fits into the ‘regular site layout’….(example of the “regular page” above)…
1. ‘Arron’ logs-in to wordpress, clicks on ‘add new’ (under the ‘PAGES’ section), and creates the ‘blog page’ page content in wordpress.
2. ‘Arron’ then saves the ‘blog page’ content and META tags (without publishing).
(IMPORTANT NOTE: Even if “Arron” publishes this “Blog Page”, the wordpress theme doesn’t use the “blog page” portion of wordpress, and the new page isn’t linked anywhere on the blog)
Because the page ends up being published in the “blog layout”, I then have to move it to a “regular page’
3. Then, I log-in, copy the content and META tags.
4. I then create a ‘regular site page’ (using an HTML editor), pasting the content and META tags and adding in the SSI tags.
5. When I am done creating the ‘regular page’, I go the the wordpress script and delete the saved ‘blog page’ that ‘Arron’ created.
What I Need;
I need a solution that eliminates MY STEPS (Steps 3, 4, & 5 above) where I have to copy the content over to a new created the page in an HTML editor.
I need a solution that makes my steps of creating the new page in wordpress unnecessary.
I want to give ‘Arron’ the ability to publish the created ‘blog page’ (in steps 1 & 2), but have it display in the site’s ‘regular page layout’. I want him to be able to add a new “blog page” in wordpress and have it display in the “regular page laypout” when published.
I don’t know if this is possible in WordPress as it seems like it would require a secondary theme for the PAGE portion of wordpress.
If installing a second wordpress script is the only way to do this, I may prefer another route. I want a solution that does not extended the time (and work required) to upgrade wordpress AT ALL. Please make your suggestion for my solution along with your bid for the required work.
