WordPress Design. Layout. Code

June 29th, 2009 Comments off

Hi

I’m looking for a quick WordPress Theme design.
The design, layout and coding needs to be done.
I’m using WPMU.

Theme is for a quilting website. Needs to be obviously Quilting and professional looking.
Something eye catching and brandable.

Quilters are creative people and I need the site to reflect this.

I have come up with a rough logo and this can be used as a guide… allthingsquilting.com.au

Although if you can come up with something better, please feel free to go ahead!

The most important thing at the moment is the layout and coding for WPMU.

The areas I need are…
1. A strong call to action for the email newsletter optin – above the fold.
2. A largish box for “Featured Quilt Shop” – a preview of the Featured Quilt Shop blog post and a “read more” link
3. A largish box for “Interviews” – a preview of the interviews blog post and a “read more” link
4. A button for each of the following:
a) Shop-Til-You-Drop Trip Planner
b) Groups
c) Shops
d) Workshops
e) Retreats
f) Specials
5. RSS icon/text link
6. XHTML compliant

All areas must be easily editable, as well as writing on images.

WordPress Template/joomla Code

May 3rd, 2009 Comments off

I need WordPress help on two sites:

PART ONE:
A programmer made a WordPress template for me, a very simple one. I was then going to enter all my content into that WordPress template/design. (The page is on my own URL)

Unfortunately, when I changed host companies, my database was lost, so my front page now just has a database error when you pull up the URL. :/ I have been unable to get a backup from prior host.

I have the graphic logo still. I also have a cached visual copy of what the template looked like. And a cache of the source code for it. The site needs to be a specific blue (I’ll find hex codes) and white with a logo on it, top, bottom, left side and right side menus, with blog down the middle. I have the logo. The biggest thing is that I want the template/page to be wider than the typical WordPress blog page, which is usually extremely narrow.

Example of a Typical too-skinny WordPress blog with wayyyyy too much space on each side: http://eileenbrown.wordpress.com/

Better (wider):

Even Better – full screen:

SO: I basically need one WordPress page customized, and have all the visuals + graphic for you to follow/use. I will do all the categories, put the text in, etc.

PART TWO:
I have a different WordPress blog also. That one is also on my own URL. It feeds into the center of my homepage (which has a Joomla CMS). Right now, for some reason, each WP blog post cuts off at 3.5 lines (and continues on the full blog page). And there is no “read more” link. A reader can click on the blog post title to get to the full story though. I want to be able to type many more lines, and decide myself when to insert a page break (And that should create a “read more” link for readers to follow).

Second, although the full blog page, archives pages, etc. live on my URL, they don’t show up in my Joomla template (they are just on the pages by themselves). I need every single page of my entire blog to show up using my same Joomla site design.

****Please bid on both projects combined, but on the message board, tell me how much you are charging for each – Part I and Part II, so I understand how much work each one is***

THANK YOU!!

WordPress Plugin Customization

March 24th, 2009 No comments

This project consists of four prgramming tasks:

1. This one should be the easiest: write the query to
display a random word from a WordPress plugin called IMM-Glossary in our template’s side bar under the heading “Random Word” – The definition will need to be truncated to display the first 90 characters of the definiton with a “read more” link, which is needed so it fits nicely into our template.

2. We would like a feature added to the IMM Glossary plugin to be able to display any one term in our glossary by
simply linking to it like this: ../glossary?term=bad credit – The link should only display the “bad credit” definition on the page. (this feature is also required to complete point #1 above, so the “read more” link can point to a page with the whole definition)

3. Similar to above but a link to display words that start with a certain letter only, like this example:
http://itsvista.com/topic/glossary/?snap=A
http://itsvista.com/topic/glossary/?snap=B

4. Unrelated to above, we would like AJAX code to dynamically toggle the sub-links on a page based on 3 main links. As an example go to this site: w w w . c r e d i t m a r t.com.au and look in the right-hand corner at the “Our Best Credit Card Rates” box. We would like something similar and already have the data (which is static) and the design. So it should be straight forward.

Payment will be into escrow and released on completion.

Please ask any questions and we’re happy to show you more details/examples.

You’ll need your own WordPress installation as we can’t give out the login to ours.
