We need someone to upgrade the star rating javascript AJAX code we use for bid and project rating.

Take a look at the attached HTML file. You can also see the code in action on your projects page (to rate projects you bid on).

There are 3 changes to make:

1. Simplify the star HTML. Instead of those 5 image tags, each with id/onmouseover/onmouseout/onclick, have one simple div tag.

Like: <div class=”rateit” id=”rateit-X-Y-Z”></div> or <div class=”rateit” id=”rateit” rate-id=X rating-amount=Y></div>

Can that be done easily?

2. The code should work globally for any image file and any number of them. e.g. instead of 5 stars using rate_redstar.png/rate_star.png/rate_greystar.png calling project_rate.cgi, we might want to use it for 3 stars using different images, calling a different script.

So in the above DIV example, X would be the id of particular settings (defined on the page one time). One setting (X=1) could be for the normal 5 star system, another (X=2) for 3 stars with different images, etc, etc.

3. Add a popup text field when user clicks a star. The text field will allow user to submit a note/description with the rating. By this point the rating will already be submitted, so the note will submit as a separate AJAX call.

-It should look something like the text box that appears under a Facebook like button (see https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/).
-Our popup should also close if user clicks outside the popup, or clicks a “close” link.
-onsubmit, AJAX should return any error message under the text field, otherwise replace the text field with a success message, then close the popup after a few seconds (similar to SL’s quick reply popup).
-After successful submit, the text should appear in another div tag that might be on the page: <div id=”ratingtext-1234″></div>
-the text field can be turned off if not needed.

We have a POPUP with details of locations in our joomla project. There we want displaying some stars as rating (cumulative for detail (stars) rating) and two links “details of rating” and “reviews”. In our POPUP (image and text) is already a placeholder for that and below is space for links.

Detail of task:

My project is targetting Oxford University students, during day and night, with plans to expand to other red brick universities in 2012

The site is simple, yet I am doing an internship and do not have the time do programme it, yet i have designed the layout on iweb and produced a powerpoint slide guiding you through how the website will operate!

the site has 6 top bar options:

just how hot: the homepage, which is simply google maps, focused on oxford only. The user clicks on a location, a pin drops onto the map, they then describe/upload photo of the ‘hotty’ they have spotted in that location in a text box. another user will then scroll over that pin, the description/photo will appear and an option to ‘rate’ will be present under description. rating is on a 1-10 vertical scale, colour coded on heat i.e purple=1 red=10. Pins will change colour based on rating!

hot spots: is an identical google map foused on oxford, yet it is colour coded like a temperature map i.e number of spottings in one area will determine how ‘hot’ that area is!

Events: is a simple 3 column table ‘rating’ ‘club’ and ‘rate’.
rating is an average rating of the club based on ratings from the horizontal 1-10 scale underneath ‘rate’. The user then has the option at the top of the page to select ‘style’ which is a drop down box with ‘club’, ‘pubs/bars’, ‘events’, ‘crewdate’, restauratnt’, ‘balls’ as options. The same table will appear, with different options i.e someone selects pub/bars and between ‘rating’ and ‘rate will be ‘pubs/events. i will provide lists of these places upon accepting the project! Below each ‘rating table’ will be another table ‘your perfect week’ which will have 7 columns (monday – Sunday) and 2 rows. the perfect week will provide a guide of which club/pub to go to each day i.e on a monday ‘the kings arms’ will be rated 9/10 therefore it will be the option for monday but perhaps a 4/10 on tuesday. Each ‘style option’ will have a different ‘perfect week’ plan obviously.

study spots: is a search bar. the user will search for their current studying location i.e ‘Christ Church Library’ the search box will recognise this location and provide a drpo down box with it (similar to when you type a name to facebook search)upon selection..a drawn floor plan will then appear of that location, with similar options to the google maps i.e spot a hotty in the library, you can click and a pin will drop on the location you can pin point the location, providing a magnififed option and more personal! i will provide you with drwn floor plans of all locations i.e libraries, coffee shops. The page will have an option to select which floor they are located on also.

Contact: is simply my contact details..providing users with an option to ask a question i.e can you please draw a floor plan for starbucks coffee shop? which will be considered.

plyers: upon clicking plyers a message will say, in orer to remove a pin you must place one yourself (to ensure a steady amount of pins at all times!) upon placing a pin..a pair of plyers will then appear instead of the mouse arrow and users can hover over a pin and remove it!

I am a student at oxford and the site will only work through advertising, which i have lined up, through my current internship at Red Bull I have ideas! i have created websites before but do not have the time and need someone who can do the above in a proffesional manner, within the deadline ensuring the site functions properly and looks fresh is my priority.

I want to start a standalone website to rate photos, and I want it to interact with FB.

Users should be able to log in with their FB accounts, and their activity on my site should be able to be posted to FB (“Bob just rated this photo as a 3. What do you think?”)

It would also be nice to be able to post occasional automatic messages from my site to a FB page that I will set up for the site. In fact, on the FB page or group I set up, I want everyone who signs in to my site to automatically “Like” my page/group.

I am looking for a capable programmer who is able to fix a browser compatibility issue I am having with the Unobtrusive AJAX Star Rating Bar script (http://masugadesign.com/software/unobtrusive-ajax-star-rating-bar/)

The script works perfectly on all browsers besides internet explorer 8 and 9 (I havent tested it on IE lower than 8). As you can see in the attachment I’ve posted (IEbug.jpg) it doesn’t show the stars correctly after rating. I’ve also attached a picture that shows how it should show correctly (see attachment correct.jpg).

The rating script has been implemented in a codeigniter project, however I believe the issue is present in the PHP rating script.

I would like you to fix the rating script to work/show correctly with all browsers.

Hi, i am running joomla 1.5 and i decided to add a rating system for Joomla CATEGORIES, but since joomla didn’t have an extensions for this, i decided to implent a script manually. I am using this Rating script http://masugadesign.com/software/unobtrusive-ajax-star-rating-bar/
and i put the display code in /components/com_content/views/category/tmpl/default.php (the file that displays Joomla CATEGORY page). And everything works fine. But i have one problem. I have Eaccelerator cache turned on inside joomla configuration, and because of that every time i load you vote, the UPDATED votes aren’t displayed when you visit the category pages until the cache expires (every 40 min). I want someone to fix the issue by making the necessary modification with the rating script. Its a pretty simple job, so don’t bid higher than my budget, because i WILL NOT pick you. Also please note, that i will not give you the FTP INFO, but will give you all the files you ask manually, for security reasons, if you can’t work like this, don’t bid. Thanks.

The current “star” rating used by Magento in customer reviews is rather “old school”. Of course one can easily edit the template to have a nice one, but we are looking for a solution via a Magento extension.

Default Magento uses radio buttons. Since Magento uses the Prototype Javscript Framework, it makes much sense to use something like this: http://www.nickstakenburg.com/projects/starbox/

The job is for creating a Magento extension, that will replace the default star rating by a prototype base Starbox rating. In other words: replace the radio buttons by stars that one select by mouse hovering. No AJAX submission is necessary, the default POST submission should be left untouched.

The extension has to support Magento 1.5.1.x and must be installable as a Magento build package file.

I need someone (could be a person or more) to help me pass some expert rating tests. The tests will be in programming related mostly – looking for a 90% at least result. (php5, ajax, jQuery, paypal integration, drupal6.14, joomla 1.5, ASP.NET with SQL Server, asp with c# etc)

I am using joomla with a video component called hwdvideoshare, that has a 5 star rating system that calculates the video ranking with the rating and number of votes. It adds two fields to the database (rating and votes). I would like to change this to an up/down voting system that when clicked up adds one vote to the field and clicked down minuses one vote from the same field. All the other paramaters should remain the same such as ip adress, and re-voting. The code is php and in an ajaxsuite.php file.

In a few words, we require a city-based ranking site for listings (will specify later).
