I would like to do some simple calculations with the data gathered and by way of an auto-response and provide a potential customer a quote via email.

The calculations would go like this: Each product will have 2 prices in the database (again, we need to change these from time to time), one for SqYds, and the other for SqFt. The price is multiplied with the variable provided in the “Amount Needed” field. If they want us to quote freight, or check availability we need to capture the zip code and for now, freight and availability will be manually calculated, and emailed by hand later.

The auto-response quote, will have some basic quote text, a logo, and the price that was calculated. I will provide detail on this report at a later date.

I have a client that would like a website built for their local business. He provided me with some examples of sites that he likes (elements that he would want his site to include) and he really likes this one:

He would like something similar to that. He likes the way the drop down menu is, he likes the rotating images and how the text appears on there, and he likes the little “badges” on the right (and he would only want 4 of those “badges” recreated).

On the homepage, he would also like a little “Free Quote” box next to the rotating images. Aweber will be used for the quote box so he can get names and emails and phone numbers. Below the quote box will be the four recreated badges.

The logo for the site will be sent to the person who is selected for this job. All images that he would want to be rotated will be sent to you as well. You will have everything you need, other than having to actually recreate the 4 badges and quote box.

He wants a clean coder that has experience with WordPress and has created quality themes in the past.

Below is a run-down of what the site does as it’s been a while since you have had to work with it…

You enter ISBNs for books or UPCs for DVDs, VHS Tapes, CDs, Video Games, or Software and click ‘Get Prices’. You get an instant quote on the next page. These prices come from Amazon and are based on the rules we have set up in the admin section at www.BookItBuyback.com/admin (log is admin, password is aaron). It looks at the lowest 1, 2, or 3 prices on Amazon (based on the ‘# to consider’ column) and then the rank of the item on Amazon (if it’s a DVD with a 48000 rank then it looks at the ‘up to 50000′ row) so it knows to consider the bottom 2 prices. Call for further explanation. It would be much easier to understand over the phone.

Currently, there are several problems. Firstly, VHS Tapes, CDs, Video Games, and Software are all being quoted as DVDs for some reason (DVDs are quoted as DVDs and Books are quoted as Books… all other categories just think they are DVDs). Amazon has a separate catalog for each product category and when our site checks the UPC on there it sees what product catalog it’s in so that it knows what set of rules to use for pricing. You can see how the site is creating the quote in detail by entering an ISBN or UPC into the ‘Debug Pricing’ field in the admin area (see login info above). Doing this you can see that all of these categories are coming back as DVD. This worked at some point in the past but clearly isn’t now and I have no idea why; I don’t know of anything that could have been changed that would affect this.

The other issue I mentioned over the phone. Part of the pricing rules is that it says, based on the sales rank, how many of each particular item we are willing to buy. If you look at the book pricing rules, for example, you’ll see that if the sales rank is under 10000, then we are willing to buy a ‘Max Quantity’ of 12. I would like that setup changed to the following:

We need a set of columns that lets us multiply the original quote amount by a percentage to get a discounted amount that we pay for increasing quantities, namely: 31, 26, 21, 16, 11, 6, 3, and 2. So if the ‘Max Quantity’ is set to 20 and someone types in 25 for their available quantity on the site it will say, “We are currently only buying 20 copies of this title from any individual/family/group/business in a 60-day period” and we will show what we are paying for the 20 copies we are willing to buy. That’s pretty much how it works now except that we will need it to show the decreasing amounts that we are paying for the copies, based on the percentages in the columns for 2, 3, 6, 11, 16, and 21. So if we have .9 in the column for a quantity of 2, .85 in the column for 3, .8 in the column for 6, .75 in the column for 11, .7 in the column for 16, and .6 in the column for 21, then it will pay the original quoted price on the 1st copy ($35, for example). Then it will show that we are paying $31.50 for the 2nd copy ($35 x .9), $29.75 for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th copies ($35 x .85), $28 for the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, an 10th copies ($35 x .8), $26.25 for the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th copies ($35 x .75), $24.50 for the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th copies.

We also need a way to link up our current inventory with our buyback site. I’d love to have a separate part of the site that has all of our inventory listed and available for sale with a cart system, etc., and full integration into Monsoon. Andrew, I know you have done something like this in the past. However, I would like the buyback part of the site to check our current inventory when getting a quote so that it can consider that when giving the price. Basically, if we have 10 copies of a book in stock someone tries to get a quote on that same book I would like the buyback quote to reflect that by offering less or not buying the title at all. This can be added later. I really want the BuybackExpress.com site live before getting into this… but I thought you might want to know about it anyway in case it affects any other programming.

I run an event linen rental business. I rent linens and accessories for wedding etc. I do get quote request. I will like to have a form based quote where customers can choose the items they want on my website and it will calculate the total, send me an e-mail and I will in turn get back to the customer with the information. Customer upon submission will get a feedback that we will get back to them soon. I can also use this form in-house during consultation when generating quotes for clients, it will be easier than my excel form with calculating fields I had set up currently. I don’t have a high budget as I just started business. It will not be a complex project cos my product offerings are mainly differentiated by items and sizes, even though I offer 27 colors in some items, color does not change price, only item and sizes changes price, I had this like this to make it easy for me, my item list is not up to 30 possible fields. My brother who is a java programmer in New York said I need a form based one, that has a database that pulls from the database so I can update items and prices without problem, he can build it for me but he tells me he’s too busy at work and it may take months before he can get to it! I would like a mobile app built for entertainment purposes. First page would have 4 categories; sports, movies, celebrities, and favorites. The user would be able to click on the quote and send it to other users via text message. Would also like other deliver methods of the quotes such as Twitter, email, etc if at all possible. The quotes would have small pictures prior to the text to represent who said the quote. I can provide the images. I would like for category pages to be listed alphabetically by names only, no pictures; movie titles for movie page and by name of sports figure for sports page and by name of celebrities for celebrity page. The quotes would be able to be added to the Favorites page. I have attached a word document mock up of the app. I am okay with a real simple setup. I came across the app QuickText and would be happy with similar simple setup. I would prefer to start with an Iphone platform. I have a ton of quotes and can have you start with about 15-20 for each category. I would then like to have the ability to add more quotes in the future and would pay additionally for your services for additions. Thank you for your time.

P.S. I initially wanted the quotes to be accessible via a downloadable keyboard similar to Emoji but don’t think this is possible. I preferred this method due to the accessibility and the ability to reach social sites such as Facebook and Twitter as opposed to just text messages. Let me know if this is possible.

I would like a Perl script written that pulls a stock quote off of Yahoo Finance or some other free finance site. The stock quote I’m using initially is HRTB.OB
