Dolphin Platform Project

October 20th, 2011 Comments off

I have a Dolphin 7 site running an articles module.

I need to be able to import content (.txt files) into the database and the site in bulk.

I need to be able to do the following:
1) Upload articles by folder – each folder will have articles in the same category.

2) Use the first line of each .txt file as the title for the article. If there is an easy way to ensure that the inital letter of each word of the title was capitalised that’d be great!

3) Following on from (2) I’d like to be able to filter articles such that I can specify a certain number of lines from the bottom of the article be ignored and/or acertain number of lines be ignored from the top of the articles – some of the articles will be formatted with jeywords, word counts etc and I need to be able to avoid having these show up in the published articles. The word ‘Title’ should be filtered from the start of any line used as the title.

4) Set a consistent font and type size.

5) Need to ensure that page formatting with paragraphs is consistent and correct.

6) Set a category for the articles – all the articles in the same folder will always have the same category, we have a preset list of categories.

7) Set a consistent tag group but possibly with an override so I can set a group of tags to use on each article in a folder OR use different tags from one article to the next if required. A real ‘wish’ or ‘like to have’ would be some way to reliably generate tags from the category of the articles and from the title of the articles rather than having to do the work manually.

8) All articles to be set to publish without admin approval.

9) I’d like the option to set posting dates into the future so that content uploaded is set to be published in stages.

10) If articles posted could be pinged as they are published that’d be very cool. If pinging only occurred for those posts published immediately that’d be OK too, if pinging future posts is too complex.

11) I do not mind if the tool is not integrated with Dolphin but is a standalone application that directly addresses the Dolphin 7 database.

12) As an optional extra – assuming that it is not too costly to do it; I’d like to be able to choose a keyword in the article folders I upload and have it set to link to a URL of my choosing.

Clone Questionnaire System

November 17th, 2009 Comments off

I am seeking bids to clone and existing questionnaire system.

This is only one piece of the web site I am building. If this project works out for both of us then we can move forward with the rest of the pieces.

This project is easy if yo have excellent php and MySQL skills.

Should you wish to proceed further I will pre-fund the project. I will provide you with login and password criteria for the system to be copied and enhanced. I have setup a clean development hosted domain & I will provide you with the full rights cpanel login.

I will provide the web pages for the system to be cloned, a view of the resulting questionnaire, and a login where you can play with the system to be cloned and enhanced.

Short description. The questionnaire design consists of a page description, a section within the page layout, and questions within the section layout. From the values entered in the layout design the system automatically creates (publishes) the questionnaire.

You will be cloning an already operational design. Changing the look & feel, and making it more elegant.

Again, this is a straightforward system clone project.

I feel that this should be done in php, but if you have a good reason to do it in some other form please let me know. The back end database needs to by MySql because of its widespread availability.

On to the project

Updates To WordPress Site

July 29th, 2009 Comments off

I need the following items fixed on my WordPress site (PHP – User submits stories):

Home Page
- Move stories up to fill to fill in gap under logo (currently there is a large gap)
- Fix search field so that it functions
- Move “posted on date” to the “replies line” on the far right side
– Date format should be: 07/29/2009 (remove “Posted on” text. Only
date should display – no time stamp)
– Make the posted date font lighter(light grey)
- Change text for “Rates Up” and “Rates Down” to
“Hired” (thumbs up) and “Fired” (thumbs down). Where is this text so
that we can change it in the future if need be?
- Where are the stories stored. Need to know for necessary backups.
- Sometimes the rates up and rates down buttons don’t work.
-Users should be able to rate each story, either thumbs up or
thumbs down, but not both. Currently, this doesn’t work. Test in
IE and Firefox.

Back-end
- Stories that have been approved show up in the “unpublished stories” section AND the “published stories” section – these stories, once approved, should ONLY appear in the Approved section. – Once a story is published, it should be removed from the “Unpublished Stories.”
- In the published stories section, the stories need to be listed in the order that they were published. Published stories should appear in chronological order. Newest approved stories should appear at top.
- The “Edit” option needs to be available for “Unpublished Stories.”

Story Comments (replies)
- Remove “Anonymous says.” Only comment should post.
- Change the commented date format 07/29/2009 with time stamp.
- Comments need to be approved before posting.

Php Mysql Quick Job Right Now

June 27th, 2009 Comments off

I have a form that submits information about events to the database. The events, by default, are no published in the website.
Each event has a field called “status”. So, by default, that field is always “inactive”.
From my Joomla admin panel, I can activate those events. So, by clicking over a button, I change the status of those events.

Now, i just want to have a radiobutton or checkbox or dropdown (or whatever you prefer) in my admin panel where I can set 2 status: active, inactive. so, if active is marked, all the events submited in the form from my website are published automatically by default. But, if inactive is selected, all my events are not published by default.

Simple, easy. I know what files you need to edit. (2 files)

So, its just a matter of adding some code to the form as follow:

if (eventsStatus==”active”)
my new events submited are storing status “Active” in their field in database.
else
status Inactive in their field in database.

Ok, lets get this done right now. Bonus if you start right now.
Thanks.

Classified Ads With A Kick

June 15th, 2009 Comments off

Classified Ads With a Kick, For a Particular Product Line

This website will deal with a specific type of product, which I will keep confidential for the time being. The type of product involved does typically have an expiration date. The site’s primary content will be “descriptions” of many of the hundreds of products that fall within this product line we are dealing with. These descriptions may be created by admins or by registered users of the site. Users will attach free classified advertisements called “tickets” to these descriptions. The site will initially begin with no content at all. All content will be added by the site admin (me), or users. Users will have an eBay-style private message area where they may receive and respond to messages from site admin and other users they are completing a deal with. A blog and community forum will also be attached to the site.

The site must be compatible with IE 6, 7, 8, and Firefox. An per-existing or custom content management system will be necessary in order to allow me to make changes when necessary. The CMS must afford differing levels of control between system admins and site moderators. Written in Pphp using a LAMP setup (Linux, Apache, MySql, php). I would like the ability to add one-line text ads throughout the page. I would like to be able to add Google AdWords text ads on the sides of the page.

The timeframe for completion is 3 and one half months, with a two week beta testing period.

Please provide separate quotes for coding, design, and both together. You may separate the optional items or include them in the quote as you wish.

The descriptions will include the following information: product title, product description, retail price, optional link to corresponding forum post, optional expiration date, optional links to product info, and number of completed sales of this product on the website IF greater than zero. This sales number will of course be dynamic content. There will also be a place for users to vote the described product up or down. A description may only be edited by the creator, the site admin, or a moderator that the admin has assigned.

The home page will show various featured product descriptions. There will be a search box to search for product descriptions by key word(s). The search results may then be sorted by the following fields: Featured (default), Popular, Rating, Newest, Most Available, and Expired. Continue reading for descriptions of these fields.

The home page will have navigation tabs at the top, which sort the descriptions in different ways for the user. The tabs will be: Featured (default), Popular, Rating, Newest, Most Available, Regional, and Expired. When clicking on a tab, the entire web page will change. I would like to limit the use of AJAX and advanced technologies. No Flash is to be used.

Here are how the descriptions are sorted either by clicking tabs, or by sorting a key word search:

-Featured: Description order is determined by internal site administrator (me)
-Popular: Products described that have the most completed sales on our website come first (see below for more information on how this sales process works)
-Rating – The product description’s rating as voted by users. Users points may be weighted (see below under optional items).
-Newest – Most recently added descriptions
-Most Available – Descriptions with the most classified ads (tickets) attached to them
-Regional – Clickable map above. Below, sorted by state and then city with a number in parentheses showing how many offers exist for the particular city. Cities can be added.

Connected to the descriptions will be free classified advertisements called Tickets. The site will enable registered users (free registration) to post free classified tickets for the exact product in the description if they have one that they would like to sell. In the same way, users may also post a tickets under a product description if they are looking to buy one of the described products.

Tickets will include the following information:
-Product Title – This is automatically populated from the description that the new ticket is being connected to
-Link to the “Description” the ticket is associated with. Again, this is automatically populated.
-”For Sale” or “Looking to Buy” designation
-Price (determined by creator of ticket – This can be the same or different from the retail price on the description
-Payment methods accepted or offered, depending on whether it is a “For Sale” or “Looking to Buy” ticket. (eg. PayPal, Google Checkout, personal check)
-Any information that will be needed or given upon completion of the sale (ex. Name and address, telephone number, etc.)
-Detailed user score information – This is the score of the individual posting the ticket. It is derived from e-Bay style feedback from other users in prior transactions.
-The creating user’s ID or name will be kept anonymous at this stage

After you click on a product description, you will see the tickets below it that users have added that are associated with that product. If there are more “For Sale” tickets, these will show first, and there will be a tab to click for “Looking to Buy” tickets. If there are more “Looking to Buy” tickets, then the opposite will take place. There will be a couple of boxes you can check above the tickets to select “show only FOR SALE tickets” or “show only LOOKING TO BUY tickets”.

Users will then have the ability to sort tickets after clicking into a product description. They can sort by the following fields:
-Ticket creator’s user score high to low
-Ticket creator’s user score low to high
-Ticket price high to low
-Ticket price low to high

When a user accepts a ticket (ex. They want to buy a product offered in a “For Sale” ticket), the original creator of the ticket (not necessarily the creator of the description) is notified and asked if they would also like to accept. This gives them a chance to look at the receiving party’s detailed user score before completing the transaction. The receiving party is also kept anonymous at this stage.

If the offering party accepts:

-Both parties are prompted to make payment of our fee to the website. The fee will initially be heavily discounted for the first months of site operation, but they need to see that in the future, the fee will be the greater of $2 or 10% of the product cost. We will accept payment via PayPal or Google Checkout, including credit cards used via either of these payment gateways,
-When payment is made, usernames are revealed to the two parties, and the two users may begin to communicate through messaging each other in the user message area (not the forum messaging area) to exchange pertinent information.
-User messages must be automatically filtered to prevent the exchanging of email addresses, etc.
o If attempting to submit a message with a filtered word/s, the writer gets a
notice telling them “Unless you wish to edit, the following words will be
removed from your post in accordance with our terms..” The removed words
will be highlighted in red in the message. They will then have the option
to click “Edit” or “Submit”. An alert with the original message as typed
before filtering will be sent to the board moderator and site admin for
their information.
-The two parties are able to rate each other any time after payment. Ratings will include:
o An overall rating of one to five stars
o Sub-category ratings (these do not affect the overall rating)
_ Timeliness of money transferred
_ Accuracy of the ticket information
_ Communication
o An optional text review of 140 characters or less
-The two parties’ ratings of each other are not published until BOTH RATINGS have been submited, unless:
o If the receiving party’s rating has been submitted for 5 full calendar days
already with no rating submitted from the offering party. In this case, the
receiving party’s rating is published and the offering party no longer has
the opportunity to rate the receiver.
o If the receiving party never completes a rating, then no ratings will be
published, even if the offering party has submitted a rating to be
published.

If the offering party does not accept the receiver, the offering party is asked if they need to block this kind of offer or this user in the future, leading them to a new page
-Offering party may block
o the same offer from the same user,
o and/ or the user altogether,
o and/ or the same offer from all users

User Forum considerations
-users can add to each others’ forum reputation scores as at slickdeals.net user forum
-separate forum private messages
-filters on posts and private messages (with clear warnings as in the main site user messages above)
-free registration
-normal forum capabilities for registered users – search, avatar, etc.

Optional Items

*Even if these items are not implemented initially, the site must be constructed so that they may be added later if desired.

-The ability to add a ticket to your “Watching” list of tickets you want to consider for the future.
-A link beside the search box for “Ticket Search” where you may search only tickets b(not descriptions) by a key word(s)
-If a product expires before the expiration date, a user can tag the description as expired through a link on the description that says “Mark as Expired”. When this is done, a statement in red text will be put on the description that says “A user has tagged this product description as expired. Please vote it expired or active here.” The product will become expired when it reaches a certain number of votes of expiration from users. If the point balance goes to zero or a negative number from people voting it active, the warning in red will go away.
-Safari compatibility is a plus.
-The ability to change the site’s background/ wallpaper from time to time is a bonus.
-When users vote on the rating of an offer, or whether an offer is expired, their points are weighted. Here are things that give weight to a user’s vote:
o 10 points for completed sales transaction
o If 4 stars user rating, multiply transaction points by 2. If 5 stars,
multiply by 3

o 2 points for each level of Forum Rating attained
o 1 point for each portion of a year as a user
o 1 point for each 10 Forum posts
- User’s points can be set to 0 by admin if I don’t want their vote to count.

Graphic Design Considerations

-The “For Sale” And “Looking To Buy” tickets should be differing colors.
-A female graphic artist is preferable.
-no Adobe Flash
-appealing to both genders and a variety of ages and demographics
-clean looking
-offers should be enclosed in an empty, rounded rectangle
-tickets should be enclosed in the shape of a luggage tag
-minimal javascript if any
-800 pixel fixed width – non-scaling, but with a backdrop/ wallpaper color or pattern behind it
-pleasing color scheme, with colors used to highlight important areas of the page
-logo stands out, is trademarked and integrated with surrounding graphics and slogan
o I can provide some direction on the logo
-rounded corners
-shading and reflection for depth
-good use of white space
-unique, eye-catching
-very obvious search bar
-possible use of elements from US paper currency
-favicon

published, even if the offering party has submitted a rating to be

-favicon

Drupal Expert – Module Config

May 27th, 2009 Comments off

This is a repost and modification of my previous project here:
http://www.scriptlance.com/projects/1235538536.shtml
This is SIGNIFICANTLY LESS COMPLICATED than the original posting.

The end client took a long time to decide on the project requirements so the previous posting got cancelled and some changes have been made to the specifications. I am ready to proceed with this project now. To everyone who posted a bid before, I am sorry for the delay and please feel free to post an updated bid here.
——————————————————————–

Overview:

I need to add certain functionality to a base Drupal installation. This can be done with module installation, configuration and customization. I do NOT need you to build an entire website – I need to configure the needed functionality in Drupal upon which a website can later be built.

I do NOT need any template/theme customization, and no real content will be required other than test content to verify functionality of modules.
Drupal 6.7 or later will already be installed for you with the default setup and the admin module installed:
http://drupal.org/project/admin_menu
as well as the TinyMCE editor which I have tested and works well.
I will provide FTP access, cPanel access, and the Drupal admin login.

I need you to determine which modules to use, install them, configure them and prove that the specified functionality has been acheived, and then explain to me exactly what was done in a step-by-step manner so I can replicate it later. I will need to be able re-create the installation later on a different server (same specs).

User Types:
There needs to be two types of users added. Content Managers and Content Editors. It should be possible to have multiple users of both types.

Demo Preparation:
To create a realistic testing environment, several levels of content pages (fake content) should be created. There sould be several main website sections, each having multiple sub-sections and pages. The content should be 3 levels deep.

Desired Functionality:
I need for the Content Managers to be able to assign content editing and adding priviledges to Content Editors. They should be able to assign content by specific pages, sections of the website, or types of pages based on taxonomy. There should be multiple ‘editors’ possible for any particular page. The exact method for assigning content is open for discussion, but I would like to be clear on the process prior to awarding this project. The managers should also be able to create a ‘placeholder’ page which is unpublished and assign it to an editor for editing.

The editors need to be able to edit their assigned content and submit it for approval. The existing version of the content should always remain published until a manager can review the new content and approve, edit, or reject with comments. If assigned a certain section or type of content, editors should be able to add new pages which are not published until approved by a manager. If a page is rejected, the editor should be notified and they should be able to log in and see the page with the manager’s comments. They should be able to continue editing and resumbit for approval again.

To keep everything organized, each manager and editor should have a place they can view their ‘to-do’ list. From what I understand, this can be accomplished with views, but I could be wrong. Any time an item is added to the user’s to-do list, they should also be notified by email if specified in their profile. It should be very easy for the editors and managers to understand what they can edit, any items waiting for them to edit or approve, and any rejected submissions.

The managers should be able to pull up a list of all content waiting to be approved, and view, approve or reject the changes with comments.
They should also be able to mark any page as needing editing and add comments. Once a page is marked as needing changes, all editors with permission to edit that page should be notified by email and in their ‘to do’ list.
The editors should be able to pull up a list of content they are responsible for editing, and see any edits which have been rejected by an admin.

It is important that once a revision is approved, any futher changes by the editor still require admin approval. The modules I found didn’t work this way. It is also important that new content pages can be created by the designated users of that section but not published until manager approval. This functionality is critical.

Please only bid on this project if you have read the requirements thoroughly and have a clear plan to implement each requirement. For this project, I want to work with someone with a solid understanding of Drupal and good feedback. Please provide links to drupal sites you have created.

Timeframe: This needs to be completed, submitted and replication instructions sent within 2 weeks of being awarded the project. If you will require more time, please specify how long in your bid.

This will be considered a work for hire and all rights to the code created will be retained by the end client.

Communication: The selected programmer shall communicate with me only by email (preferably) or the PMB. No contact will be made with the end client.

Payment: I will escrow 2 payments, each for 50% of the bid amount. The first payment will be released after 7 days and after installing the specified modules (base installation minimum). The second payment will be released after 14 days and after delivery of all required parts to my satisfaction.

Please ask any questions prior to bidding.

I will require a list of the modules to be used so I can review them for any potential problems prior to awarding the project.

Thanks,
Daniel

WordPress Plugin – Simple

March 31st, 2009 Comments off

I require a plug-in for WordPress to allow me to create an outgoing link directory simply.

I am currently building my portfolio website in WP and would like to display the large volume of websites that I have been interviewed for. Instead of just making a text link list I would like to display a small thumbnail screenshot of the website it links to, and also a brief bit of information.

Admin:
I enter a URL into the plug-in manager, the plug-in then crawls the page and collects:
- Screen shot of page
- Page Title (meta)
- Page description (either Meta or first few lines of body text), similar to the ‘Share’ function on Facebook.

Once it has collected the information it will give me the option to edit any of the text that was collected by the website crawl and also input manually:
- ‘Published’ date
- Category (add/edit/delete and then choose from drop-down)

I can choose whether the link is published or un-published and then save the record.

In order to display the saved records I should enter a short code snippet into a ‘page’ which will then display the records for 1 or more categories.

Front End:
Records are displayed in a list as shown in a preview thumbnail attached to this description. Records are shown in date order with most recent first.

I require this product asap and would consider a shared usage license as I believe I am not the only one who would want such a plugin

Content Writer

I’m looking for writers to write/submit in articles on the topic of work and travel experiences. It can be an article that you already have written and published in your blog, it doesn’t matter. However, it shouldn’t be an article that others have paid you to write/blog.

If you do have written articles related to the topics I’m looking for, just forward me the link and I’ll go through it. Your name and site link will published together with the article you have written if it is selected to be published. In other words, you will own the full authorship.
