I need an object oriented php expert to evaluate some php scripts for 8 hours so your bid should be for that amount of time.

This is the first project of a series depending on how it will go.

The project may be awarded to more than one person and the best one(s) would be invited to the next projects.

The project is to evaluate/install/test php script(s) and give some reports at the end. Here what the report would contain:

——————–
These would be obtained through a tool (maybe you can suggest a tool.):

Objective stats (lines of code, ratio comments per line of code, total modules, total classes, …).

——————–
These would be extracted by looking at the code:

Subjective stats (easy to install, easy to configure, modular, code and design separate or easy to understand, …).

Efficiency (access to db, way to render html).

Security risks (SQL injection, cross site scripting, resource manipulation, authentication)

Maintainability (modular structure/code/db, easy to expand, following some coding standards, development methodology, documentations, reusable components percentage).

Dependability (resources, transactions, data integrity).

Supports standard formats.

Incorporates configurable affiliate areas.

Detail-oriented Php – 40 ( 3

December 30th, 2009 Comments off

I’m looking for an experienced PHP developer for a fixed rate of 40 hours of work. A full week. We are developing several product features in PHP as well as integrating modules into a MODx CMS install.

I need someone who knows (or can *rapidly* adapt to) things like Doctrine, MODx, Symfony, JSON, jQuery, et cetera. The project is already in progress with a team of developers. The team needs another capable person with programming experience who can join midstream.

You won’t be held accountable for the final deliverables. The tasks will be sporadic and spread over a number of different modules rather than a single 40 hour mini-project. The nature of most tasks will be to expand, polish, and improve on provided material. Attention to detail is more valuable than architecting abilities.

Work begins immediately upon selection and carries through near the end of the year. Xmas is not required. Group communication gravitates around Wave and Skype. We use Unfuddle for svn and ticket management.

Please communicate your skill level and provide some detail, so I can quickly assess your ability to get things done.

Web Site Design / Refinement

October 3rd, 2009 Comments off

This should be a fun project for the right designer. I have a child/adolescent oriented web site up and running that I would like professionally optimized and/or redesigned. All of the content is good to go, but I would like the site to look more professional in appearance, yet also maintain child / adolescent / family friendly appeal. Some of the specific things I am looking for include:

- Refine the site to look professionally designed
- Optimize the site for maximum search engine hits
- Create a custom logo and banner that is child / adolescent oriented, but also draws in some regional elements of where my business is located (additional information to be provided to designer)
- Make the site readable without distortion in Mozilla Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer (current site is frames oriented, and distorts a bit in Mozilla and Safari)
- Other refinements and enhancements that the programmer / designer may suggest to optimize this site. For example, I like the spiral effect found at the site http://www.azparenting.com/backissues.php , but don’t want to go

Sector Oriented Application

The spirit of the project and its relevance (its a student project)

In this project, you will work as a member of a web development team to
produce a web site that can be used to demonstrate features that characterise
e-commerce sites. This is explained in the specification for the site, which is
provided as a separate document.

The spirit of the project is that you will learn through the experience of having
to deal with practical issues as they arise. As in a typical commercial project,
you will have to work within the constraints that happen to apply at the time.
As in most projects (perhaps all), there is a limited timescale, a defined goal
and limited resources. Also, as usual, you will not be able to gain access to
people or resources just as and when it is convenient for you. As in other
projects, you will need to work with the situation as you find it if you are to
succeed.

Most of the clients you will work for in the future will place some constraints on
the way you work. Sometimes those constraints may be inconvenient or they
may seem arbitrary (even though they might be genuinely important to the
client or unavoidable). Clients will have their own reasons for imposing
particular constraints. In this module, the reason for some of the constraints
on the web site work is to facilitate the learning of certain skills; in other cases,
it is because of logistical considerations or other factors.

Object Oriented Php

So here’s some background information:

We use an open source system called “Ilias” for a LMS for a client. A LMS is basically a system where students log on and take courses and tests and the system keeps track of their scores etc. Kind of like Mycourses from our college days.

Our client will then go in and track progress of the students and see how they are doing and from time to time students encounter “errors” when taking tests so the client will have to go in and edit scores. For some tests there are a max number of attempts a user has to re take the test. There is also something called learning resources in the LMS this would be like the course itself. These also have number of attempts. If you look at the attached image there is a button to subtract one attempt from a user if needed so that the user will have a extra opportunity to take the learning resource/course again.

So here’s our situation,
For tests this button does not exist.
Our thinking is this…….since the system tracks data it would be difficult to just erase one attempt as the system may then need to erase all the tracked data (i.e score) for the attempt that is erased . So the way we figured instead of subtracting 1 attempt lets just give this user an extra attempt so attempts +1.

Of course if its this simple why can’t we do it. Well basically the programming of the software (Ilias) is very object oriented and we need someone who can understand the php and database structure much faster than we could.

Here are some resources for you to look at,
Reverse engineer of the db structure attached opens using:
http://www.microolap.com/products/database/mysql-designer/download/

Ilias website: http://ilias.de/
You can download the software from here and look at the code.
