A Simple Wp Plugin 2

February 26th, 2010 Comments off

I currently use Openx to serve all my ads but I need to add the functionality to call all adserver tags from a plugin inside my WP admin console. Plugin would be something like AD-minister or maybe even simpler. Here’s the scenario:

Openx provides an invocation code (iframe or javascript code, though I don’t think that would matter) which is used to call for advertisers content to be placed inside the page.

The plugin I’m looking after will handle this invocation code and must be able to:
– set a refresh timer for these codes to be called (ad would be refreshed every x minutes/seconds)
– every time the ad is refreshed it has to be a new call, must not be cached or anything like that

Keep in mind that you won’t have to deal in any way with Openx, it’s just a simple url management and pass thru on my end. I’ll only use Openx to get the ad tags that will be placed on the plugin.

Plugin must be simple enough as to be compatible with current and future versions of WP, I don’t want anything fancy, just functional. In case WP has a radical code change in the future that stops this plugin from working I’d gladly pay for any fixes.

You will deliver source code as well.

Please, submit your bid if you’re experienced enough with WP as to do the job.

Openx Tracking Customizations

January 18th, 2010 Comments off

Please do not bid on this project unless you have previous OpenX experience, and include a mail or PMB with a brief description of that experience. Your bid will be ignored if you do not do this.

The goal of this project is to add an additional level of tracking that is more granular than campaigns. An optional tracking code is added to the standard banner url and it is tracked as a sub-statistic of the campaign. The project also includes extending the existing reporting to drill-drown campaigns into targets and see the impressions, clicks and sales and ratios for that target/campaign and the ability to export these statistics to CSV.

The way the link structure should work is the following:
1. Using a link code such as http://www.domainopenxishostedon.com/openx.php?target=special-keyword

3. The target parameter value, special-keyword needs to be recorded in the database. The target will be sub-statistic of the campaign, so all of the same statistics (Impressions, Clicks) that are recorded for a campaign, need to be recorded at the target level as well. Additionally, the target stats will always be for that campaign, two different campaigns may use the same targets, but the statistics are separate.

2. After the target is recorded, the page must refresh removing the target from the query string so that it does not appear in any http referrer logs on our advertiser’s server.

4. There will also be an integration point in the sale/action pixel to record the conversion at the target level in addition to the campaign level.

The stats would work in the following manner.

In the attached image you can see there are many campaigns on the left that are blanked out. The next column is the conversions. The conversions will show the pixel fires for that campaign. I would like to create a new column after Conversions called

Joomla Fixes Needed

December 29th, 2009 Comments off

Two issues:

1. I’ve been using OpenX ad server for my Joomla site for some time now without any problems.

I recently upgraded my Joomla 1.5 to the latest update and now cannot login to my OpenX.

I receive the error: “You need to enable cookies before you can use OpenX”. Problem is, cookies ARE enabled. I’ve tried to login using several different computers.

Just need to be able to log in.

2. I have MarketPlace classifieds installed on my site (from http://www.codingfish.com/). It works fine but requires users to log in before posting an item.

Problem is: The “Create an Account” user registration does not work properly. It does not email users their account verification for some reason. I want users to be able to easily create an account. I also want the “create an account” page to have a Captcha to avoid Spam and fraudulent users.

Both the above should be easy for those familiar with Joomla.

Website Database

November 20th, 2009 Comments off

Hi All,

I have a website which had the following features:

1. IP2 Country
2. OpenX Ad Server

The website was fully functional but I believe that the databases have been deleted.

Task 1. I’d like IP2 Country added to my site which will display a total of 12 different Video Players in the following countries only:

Northern Ireland
Balkans
Georgia
Iraq
Ethiopia
Diego Garcia
Acension Islands
Liberia
Sierra Leone
Gibraltar
Cyprus
Falklands
Germany
Canada
Belize
Brunei
UK
Afghanistan
Kuwait
Kenya
Oman
Saudia Arabia

To confirm each country will have a total of 12 players available. Once the above has been set I’ll provide the 12 video player URL links to be placed on the website.

Task 2. I’d like to add the new Openx ad server software to my site. I have this software and it’s ready to install. Please see attached screenshot. This area allocated has previously been set and to display a range of 468 pixel banners, as set in the OpenX Admin Area.

All of the above was previously working however it now doesn’t. I’d like a programmer to rectify these problems or add the areas again.

Many thanks and happy bidding.

Openx (phpadsnew) Upgrade

October 26th, 2009 Comments off

We are using OpenX (previously phpadsnew)we are in version 2.4 and need to upgrade to version 2.8 (the current version. The upgrade instructions from the website are below. There are 10 steps that need to be done. The last person to do the last upgrade only took about an hour, so not to big a project. Once you log in to our site, and go to the maintence section, the download for the new version is there.

Upgrading OpenX

This guide covers the steps necessary to upgrade your existing OpenX installation to the latest release of OpenX 2.8.

Here’s the 10-step plan:

1. Check the system requirements
2. Download the latest version of OpenX
3. Backup your files and database
4. Extract new files to a temporary folder
5. Copy over the config file and banner images
6. Disable Maintenance
7. Check the server settings for large database updates
8. Run the upgrade wizard
9. Replace the old folder with the new one
10. Additional configuration steps

Step 1: Check the system requirements

The upgrade wizard can atomatically upgrade from all versions of OpenX 2.4 and above, for upgrading from an earlier version additional steps may be required, see the related links section to the right for more information

Step 2: Download the latest version of OpenX

You can download the latest version of OpenX here.

Step 3: Backup your files and database

We recommend you backup your filesystem and database before upgrading.

Backing up your database is quite important if the upgrade involves database changes.

Step 4: Extract new files to a temporary folder

Extract the new installation files into a temporary folder on your server. This temporary folder needs to be accessible from your browser in order to run the upgrade wizard. For example, if you use html_docs/openx, extract the new files to html_docs/openx_new.

Step 5: Copy over the config file and banner images

You need to copy your old config file and banner images your openx_new folder.

* Copy the existing configuration file from the openx/var directory to the openx_new/var directory of the new version. The config file is named domain.conf.php, so for example: www.example.com.conf.php
* Copy your banner images from openx/www/images to openx_new/www/images

Note on config files: Only copy the main config file you need, as described above. Do not copy all old backup config files and log files from previous installations. Do not copy any 2.0 style config.inc.php config file unless you are upgrading from 2.0. If you have a config file for www.example.com and for example.com do not copy both unless you require different settings for those 2 domains.

Note on images: The default banner images location can be changed in the configuration file. To check the location you have set for images, search for the webDir parameter in the configuration file. It is possible that you use only SQL and external banners, and in this case your images folder may not contain any banner files.

Step 6: Disable Maintenance

You want to disable maintenance if you are doing a major upgrade which requires database changes (like 2.4.x/2.6.x->2.8.x).
For more information please see:
http://www.openx.org/faq/how-do-i-disable-maintenance

Step 7: Check Server Settings

If you are doing a major upgrade which requires database changes (like 2.4.x/2.6.x->2.8.x) you will want to review your server settings to make sure the upgrader has enough time to complete such changes. You will also want to review your database size.
For more information please see:
http://www.openx.org/docs/tips-for-large-database-upgrades

Step 8: Run the upgrade wizard from new folder

To start the upgrade wizard, open a web browser and navigate to the new directory where OpenX is stored (openx_new), for example ‘http://www.example.com/openx_new.’

In most cases you will be able to follow the prompts without changing any default settings. See the adminstrator guide for details of each option.

NOTE: Run the upgrader from the same URL which your config file uses. For example, if your configuration file is ‘example.com.conf.php’ then run the installer from example.com.conf.php. If the configuration file is ‘www.example.com/openx’, then run the installer from ‘www.example.com/openx.’

Step 9: Replace the old folder with the new one

The final step is to move the temporary folder in place of the old one.

* Add the _backup suffix to the end of the name of your existing working directory, to rename it as openx_backup.
* Rename openx_new by removing the _new suffix, so now its only called ‘openx’.

If you don’t do this you can edit your configuration file to use the new path, but you will need to also update any invocation tags which point to the old path.

Step 10: Additional configuration steps

In some cases additional configuration steps will be required, these are covered in separate whitepapers.

Upgrading character encoding

If you have been using a the user interface in a non-English language, in particular one which uses a non ASCII character set, then you many need to upgrade your character set encoding.

Securing your ad server

It’s good practice to lock down your file permissions to reduce the risk of a security vulnerability. In particular, make sure to set the permissions on your configuration files to be read-only.

Note: If you have an error when attempting to login which references the preferences table, this most likely means that you have not replaced the old folder with the new one.

Phpbb And Openx And Mods

September 30th, 2009 Comments off

I need this done in 6 days and no longer.

My client has a Christian Arts membership site needs to be launched in one week. The site is about 90 percent complete.

Priority (these are needed to be done first):
- Set up OpenX to manage advertising on the website
- Set up forums with phpBB
- set up blog on wordpress.org and link it to the site
- Need a landing page. Simple flash on landing page is optional, but would be nice if it would fit in budget.

These need to be completed after the above have been completed:
- Make fixes to elements on some other pages to include:
Add captions under 4 graphics, Add 2 buttons, Change the way events and dates are displayed, Add text/categories to a form, Add text on a page, Change way an event is displayed, Allow events to be edited by administrators, Set up 2 additional page, Change required items in a form, Change how categories are sorted and searched, 2 forms need to be submitted for approval before posting

Exact details are in the attachment.

ONE VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: I’ve had programmers on here who take a few days to a week to start working. If I select you I need to see that you’ve done work starting the end of the first day. If no work is show to me I have cancel the project. I’m not a jerk, I just have been screwed over on this site before.

So remember work has to be shown on the first day and it can not take any longer then 6 days to complete this project no exceptions.

Fix Openx Direct Selection

September 25th, 2009 Comments off

I have a server that uses OpenX to display ads. All my zone selections are working, but direct selections are not.
At the top of the page, I have:

<?php
// The MAX_PATH below should point to the base of your OpenX installation
define(‘MAX_PATH’, ‘/home/traderef/public_html/miningreference/phpAdsNew’);
if (include_once(MAX_PATH . ‘/www/delivery/alocal.php’)) {
if (!isset($phpAds_context)) {
$phpAds_context = array();
}
// function view_local($what, $zoneid=0, $campaignid=0, $bannerid=0, $target=”, $source=”, $withtext=”, $context=”, $charset=”)
$phpAds_inc_ok = TRUE; // variable that tells all the ads that the include worked
}
?>

At each zone selection ad place, I have:

<?php
if ($phpAds_inc_ok) {
$phpAds_raw = view_local(”, 12, 0, 0, ”, ”, ’0′, $phpAds_context, ”);
$phpAds_context[] = array(‘!=’ => ‘bannerid:’.$phpAds_raw['bannerid']);
}
echo $phpAds_raw['html'];
?>

This is working.

For Direct Selection, I have:
<?php
if ($phpAds_inc_ok) {
$phpAds_raw = view_local(”, 10, 0, 0, ”, ”, ’0′, $phpAds_context, ”);
$phpAds_context[] = array(‘!=’ => ‘bannerid:’.$phpAds_raw['bannerid']);
}
echo $phpAds_raw['html'];
?>
</div>

This is NOT working.

I need someone to help me get sorted out ASAP.

Landing Page Design – Revised

May 24th, 2009 Comments off

Landing Page Design:

This project has been reposted as we removed one of the main requirements from the initial project. Below is the revised version.

We need someone to design a landing page for us based on the example attached – see (landingpageexample.html). The example is just that, an example. We want someone to redesign this to look professional and be appealing to visitors.

This page must be designed so that we can incorproate ways of generating advertising revenue. By this we mean by designing the page in a ways so that both Google Adwords could be incorportated as well as different forms of banner advertising.

We intend using OpenX banner management software to look after the placement of advertising so it would be preferable if you where familiar with the way that software works. We already have this installed ready to use.

Essentially, we need someone to come up with an appealing and compact landing page design (that basically fits into one screen – as per our example) incorporating the elements as shown in our example while at the same time allowing for the potential inclusion of Google Adwords and/or also Banner Advertising (administered using OpenX). It would be preferable if you came up with 3 different page layouts i.e

1. One with just provisions for including just Google Adwords into the page.
2. One with just provisions for including just various Banner Advertising into the page.
3. One with the provision to include both Google Adwords and Banner Advertising into the page.

We have no colour preferences etc. As along as you look at what our example landing page contains and make sure you incorporate the different content in a way that visitors will still find it easy to interact with. The content you see on the sample page is about as much as this page will ever need to carry. It’s just a matter or rearranging this to look appealing but to also permit the inclusion of some different forms of advertising. I should mention that some of the variables used on this landing page are generated by a special script that we use to interface with the landing page. For example the password numbers and the other variable numbers as shown in the Summary Area of that page are all generated by the standalone script. We simply use a variable placeholder to pick up the values when the landing page is generated.

In summary we need a landing page that is flexible enough to be able to incorporate either Google Ads or Banner Advertising or be able to accommodate both. i.e the page needs to be designed with specific zones designated for either banner advertising, Google Ads or a combination of both. Therefore, you will probably need to create 3 different landing pages (as outlined above) containing appropriate zones based on what advertising option we wish to operate for a particular time period. For example, landing page one might have zones designed to accommodate just Google Adwords. Landing page two might have zones to accommodate a range of different banner advertisements, and finally landing page three might have zones set up to allow both the inclusion of some Google Ads and some forms of Banner Advertisements. As already mentioned, we will be using OpenX to serve and manage the advertising whether they are Google Ads or banner Ads. You probably need to be familiar with how OpenX uses zones to serve it’s advertising content.

If you need clarification on any of this, please ask,
