Windows Based Opendmtp Gps

December 16th, 2009 Comments off

I currentlly have a working version of openDMTP running in cygwin on a windows laptop with a working backend server. It works but I am in need of a non-cygwin based solution. I am asking you to port, if possible, openDMTP into a true windows based program (*.exe) that can be run as a service (even in the background) on a windows xp-pro or windows 7 laptop. This particular setup is a windows xp laptop with a sprint aircard and an attached GPS receiver (usb). Data rate charges are not an issue.

The program should take any required information (such as gps port, device id, server ip and port,… any others) from a discrete .ini file

The program should auto detect the GPS port (if this is possible) at startup and should run without any end-user intervention.

If the data connection is not present or ready. The program should store any GPS data received by the receiver to a flat file (specified by the .ini file) on the local laptop. And when the data connection is restored then sent all the data from the flat file to the server using openDMTP like protocol.

My thoughts about how I would like this to work are so:

1.) install the .exe program onto the laptop with the .ini (initialzation file) and an empty data-flatfile.txt file

2.) set the .exe program to run as a service (in the background if possible)

3.) once the laptop starts the .exe program runs and loads the .ini file to get the required variables (gps receiver port if not autodetected, server ip and port, device id, account…)

4.) IF THE DATA CONNECTION IS NOT PRESENT – then store the gps data to the flat file specified in the .ini And once the data connection is restored or started send the data to the server using openDMTP like protocol

You can find information on openDMTP at http://www.opendmtp.org

I have attached the README.txt file from openDMTP as well as details on the mysql DB schema.

If selected the programmer will need to produce a final installable product after a working demo. Once payment is completed all files will become the property of the buyer. No part of this program will use any registered or for purchase items and the selected programmer will need to attest that nothing in the provided program requires additional or per install payment.

We are looking for a programmer who can install and configure OpenDMTP.com and OpenGTS.com on our hosted server and windows based laptop clients. Or like type script!

DETAILS:
1) Programmer will need to determine if and how the openDMTP script can be installed and configured on our linux hosted server (cpanel, no shell access)

2) If possible, install and correctly configure server to work correctly w/ google maps (we already have api key)

3) Create the client to be used on windows based laptops

4) Configure server and client to work

5) Ability to do extra customizing

Preference will be given to those programmers who have worked with GPS Applications and have references or demos available.

Opendmtp Client

We want a client application that will run in Windows Mobile 5.0 , 6.0 and Symbian OS (i.e. Nokia E66) and will support the OpenDMTP protocol for sending GPS locations to an OpenGTS server. We think that java should be the ideal programming environment for this application.
The application should have the option to send sms to other mobile phones with google map link of current mobile location.
Also the user should have the option to see current location in google map, ability to set the transmission of location based on time( i.e. every 3 minutes ) or distance ( i.e. every 500 meters ). OpenDMTP protocol is described as www.opendmtp.org .

Hi Sir,

We are looking for programmers to setup for us the Web base GPS real time tracking with history and notification events through Open GTS source. You will need to setup for us in our hosting server which is Linux based and also a installation file that can install in Windows/Laptop. The map is based on Google map.
Can you do it?
