We run a website listing many videos organised by topic and country. We are now looking to work with other media partners to offer a branded Youtube channel style experience.

We already have all the modules involved in serving embedded Flash video and that’s all working fine. We also have the videos all online and working fine. We just need to get the media partner channels built, including:

* their banner above the video player
* links to related videos (selected on a per video basis)
* different ads for each partner

I have recently added a calculator to my site. www.light-spark.co.uk I am very pleased with the logic of the calculator however the format in IE8 and above looks awful. It looks just how I want it in Opera. All I want is it nicely aligned with the descriptions and the input boxes and the notes after all being on one line. Doing a nice mockup could significantly increase your chances of getting this. It would be worth it because I award a lot of design projects. You can look at my feedback. I never ask for mockups, but for this one, knowing if you can produce something that is very esthetically pleasing is VERY important.

I will already be providing you with the base of the design (attached). Below is the feedback on that design.

Description.

So we need to capture the elegance of a site like salesforce.com that is an enterprise saas…. but also something like eventbrite.com or ebay.com that has a consumer based front end.

Essentially, right now, the design is just a shell. The layout will stay very similar but we need to graphically improve the design. So I dont have an issue with the positioning of things.. it just just that everything looks very bland.

Also, I wanted the color scheme to be shades of blue (kind of like how google does thing or even how salesforce.com is predominantly blue) however, now the only color is blue and it doenst look very good as there are no other contrasting colors anywhere.

1. The section on the top right just looks very sloppy.

The top border doesnt exist. There are both rounded corners and hard edges etc.

Those things need to be cleaned up so that it looks very organized.

2. My search bar is very bland.

I like how eventbrite.com and overstock.com does the shading on their search bar.

Looks different in IE and Firefox. The problem is relating to the position (vertical alignment) of the slideshow and position relative to the black horizontal rules.

I have a simple problem. I need a php/mysql page done.

What we are working on: A file called send_messages.php that checks “prights” for that user and checks to see if they have rights to send messages. If they do it checks to see how many messages they have sent per month / per day. Problem is that my default member rights are not added to a table called “prights”. I need a workaround.

Here is my problem. I have a table called “prights” that has all the user rights. I had a programmer do a script that looks in the table for a specific rights. Problem happened that default rights are not added to the prights table, only if I modify the rights. So when my script looks at prights, the user does not have the right that they need (even though it is default).

My thinking is adding it to my send_message.php file since that is where the script looks at those values. You can either change the script to do a default value of 4 (messages per day and messages per month). But if i change the value to 10 for that user, it would have to see 10 messages max. Problem with doing a default of 4, people that are not registered should not be allowed to send a message.

If you choose we could do a cron file that changes the table. How we do it is up to you, the programmer. All I know is I need it done. Not a hard project, but I tried explaining everything here.

I have added send_message.php to the download file on this project for you to take a look.

Table “members” has member ID – Each user
Table prights has “PID” which equals “ID”

If RID = “53″ exists do nothing

If RID = 53 does exist, adds following lines (example PID=100). PID is the constant. RID 3 & 4 are also constants.

Value=4 (Able to send 4 messages per day

Other problem might be that the script looks at the table right off the bat and if they don’t have the correct rights, it tells them they don’t. So you will have to make a modification to the script that changes it before it tells them that they have sent too many messages.

Bonus: If you add to the page where it tells them how many messages they have sent in last 30 days and how many they have left, I will add a bonus.

This project is for a custom template, designed and coded for a an arcade website, running the PHPAS v4 (PHP Arcade Script v 4) script.

I have an idea of what I want for the layout.

Most arcade sites are very generic looking, which is what I want to avoid.

I want something colorful, and for this, I really like the modern vector retro grunge type of stuff that’s hot right now, as long as it’s bright, and not too “dark” themed. For this, I really like that style mixed with vibrant glow effects.

I want it to be visually appealing, and to look more “exciting” than the other typical arcade sites.

It’s VERY IMPORTANT that the artwork looks good. It needs to be intriguing, eye catching, positive, and exciting.

Now, on to the structure of the layout.

The template must feature a navigation bar, just below the header graphic, with links to all 16 game categories (genres).

Most sites that I see with the PHPAS v4 templates, look really cluttered, and that’s bad. I mean the way the game titles and descriptions are displayed, it’s just really inefficient and unattractive, especially in the sections displaying the games of category.

I think it’s actually rather boring and ugly, but please look at it if you’re unfamiliar with the PHPAS v4 script, or arcade sites in general, as knowing the general layout, will help you to picture the layout that I want, from what I am going to describe below.

I want a 3 column layout, with the main game categories in the center. I want 16 categories, which are:

The 12 basic PHPAS v4 categories (Action, Adventure, Board, Casino, Customize, Dress Up, Driving, Fighting, Puzzle, Shooting, Sports) + 4 these categories – “Girly Games”, “Kissing Games”, “Sonic Games”, and “Mario Games”.

I want a background image which fills the background of the entire site, which looks good with a style like I described above for the artwork, as the background should fit in with the artwork and the theme of the site. It’s also necessary that this background image looks good displayed on both standard monitors, and widescreen monitors (meaning that the background fills the entire screen, even for those viewing the site on large widescreen monitors).

It’s important that this image loads in the background as one full image, rather than being sliced, so that if I want to later change the background, and replace it with a different image, I could do so easily.

I’d like each section in the layout, to be in containers, partially transparent, with a black glass frost look, so that the background is partially visible through the containers, like in this picture:

The look of the Containers for the Categories sections for each Game Genre, in addition to the basic transparent black containers, should also have a clear glass trim on the outside edges, possibly with a glow effect, surrounding the container, for each category (by” category” I mean the sections displaying “Adventure Games”, “Action Games”, etc, are all separate “categories”). This really isn’t as complicated as it sounds, for an example of the glass and glow trim, see the this image:

For each game genre category box/section/container I want 2 categories per row, in this center column, and each category should display 2 games at the top, side by side, with a picture displayed for each of these games, and also displaying the title for each, above the corresponding picture. Under each game should be a very short description. (The PHPAS v4 script makes it easy to control how the games are displayed, including specifications for picture, title, description, etc).

Then there should be 5 more games displayed in each category, displayed like a list or table, with 1 game / title per row, and these should be displayed beneath the two games at the top. For these 5 games, only Titles should be displayed, no pictures or descriptions. And then a “view more” button, for the genre, in each category. The games should of course load properly from the appropriate categories in the backend of the PHPAS v4 script.

The Title bar for each genre/category needs to look attractive, and the text/font needs to be legible.

Above The 3 columns in the layout, I want a row, just beneath the navigation bar, that runs a horizontal ad (which will be featuring 100 x 100 pixel game images, with the title displayed below each image) from entraffic.com. I just want to be able to insert the code for the banner/ad generated by entraffic.com in that row.

I also want some kind of “featured” box near the top, and I definitely want it to display an image and at least a “title” for each game, and maybe a description, depending on the style of the featured box, and what you feel is the most appropriate, for the overall look of this section.

I really dislike displays that show only an image, without displaying the game title. The featured box, should display games that I specify from the backend of the PHPAS v4 arcade script.

I want the user registration box, to be at the top of the left column, with a “top players” box under that.

I also want sections for “top rated games”, “most popular games”, and “random games”, each in their own section, in the right column of the site. The games in these sections should of course load properly from the appropriate categories in the backend of the PHPAS v4 script. The categories in the right column should each feature from 10 to 20 games, and only the title should be displayed for each game.

I want space to insert ads, in the side columns, and at least 1 space in each side column, big enough to fit the long vertical Google Adsense ads. It would be cool if I also had a few spots to insert those 100 x 100 pixel ads, that look like game thumbnail preview, for traffic trading.

There should also be a search box, somewhere on the site, that lets the user run a search, for all of the games on in the database on my site (PHPAS v4 makes it easy to do this).

To all professional Photoshop / Colour Conversion / Printing Specialists

I have just finished creating a DVD Cover Design and Label for a new DVD that one of my clients is about to release into the market.

I created the master file for the background graphics in photoshop ( .psd ) and then imported these backgrounds into Freehand where I have overlaid my vector graphics.

The problem I am having is with the background graphics in photoshop in relation to the RGB to CMYK conversion.

I originally created the .psd in RGB and it looks fantastic and my client is really happy However when I try and convert it to CMYK it looks absolutely terrible.

I tried just giving my printer the background graphics in RGB, however when I received the proofs, again everything looked a lot different to the depth and richness of the RGB version and essentially looked really bad.

This proof-print lost a lot of the deep rich blue colours and instead looked gray/purple and the photo on the cover has gone really bright and is white clipping.

Everyday I see printed DVD covers that look fantastic. I want this DVD Cover for my client to look FANTASTIC !

We need to have the Partnerprogramm template customized so that there are ad placement areas on the top and on the left and right columns – the SAME ADS that are shown in the same areas of http://northshorelinks.com/ (so we can have the same ads running at all times on all pages of the site, including the blogs).

So, above the existing banner at the top of the Partnerprogramm template, we need space for two banners – the same sizes as the ones at the top of NorthshoreLinks.com: an 800 x 80 pixel banner at the very top, then a space of 5 pixels, and then an 800 x 65 pixel banner. Just below (5-7 pixels below) that second banner would be the existing banner in the blog template (middle.gif, which is 900 x 150 pixels).

Then, in the left column, starting at the top (level with the first blog post), we need a column of ads. All the ads in the left column would be the same size as the ads in the left column of NorthshoreLinks.com (154 x 117 pixels). We need to be able to easily post as many ads as needed in this area (up to 15), but we DON’T want anything like an ad placeholder showing up if we have fewer than 15 ads posted.

The right column of ads would start at the top of the right column, level with the first blog post. (Everything currently in the right column would start below the ads.) All the right-column ads would be sized 194 x 131 pixels. We also need to be able to easily post as many ads as needed in this area (up to 15), but we DON’T want anything like an ad placeholder showing up if we have fewer than 15 ads posted.

All ads in the left and right columns would need a space of 12 pixels between them. We also need good-looking spacing everywhere in this template. We may need to request multiple adjustments in spacing before this project is accepted – to make sure the template looks good.

EXTRA FEATURE #1:
Since we have 10 blogs that are part of NorthshoreLinks.com (and all the ads on all the blogs will be the same), and we’d rather not have to change all the ads separately on every blog, if there is a way to create a folder/page that can be imported into all the blogs (like an ‘includes’ page, with all the ad images in a folder, that would automatically update the ads on the all the blogs), that would be very helpful.

EXTRA FEATURE #2
It would also be nice if we could add the main menu of NorthshoreLinks.com to the left column of the blog template, below the ads in the left column (where this would also be something like an ‘includes’ page that we could easily update by pasting it into all the blog folders whenever there is a change to the main menu of the site).

We’d need to have this done by a designer whose work looks polished and well-done (by American standards), without having to go back and forth after the design is submitted – to make the thing look ‘finished’. We want it to look very professional and will not accept a design that looks crappy. We’ve seen work done by great coders that is fully functional, but which does NOT look polished or stylish when complete. So design is just as important as functionality here.

We need this template to look great (with no botches), and we need it to be fully functional and EASY to update.

We have a page that we fill out info for a product. It works great for us but need 4 items added/changed.

1 – there is a link that if clicked on it shows us an image in a new window. Not all items have an image tied to it but they are still a link. So we’d like the link to only show up if there is an image code in the db.

2 – we have section that is cost has a price in the db then it’s formatted correctly and looks great…and if there isn’t a cost in the db then it looks broken and is formatted weird. So we’d like it even if there is not a cost in the db that it still shows correct.

3 – we have 2 fields that we enter a date in it but we have to type 2009-04-23 in it and we’d like to have a calendar that we click on the date and it enters it correctly. We have a calendar on another page on our site and we’d like to use that same one as to not have 2 different looks.

4 – Each product can have ‘lot’ and ‘raw materials’ tied to it and each lot has a unique id in the lot table and each raw material has a unique id in product_herb. The problem we have here is each time the product is saved it updates the lot.id and product_herb.id and we need it to not update those.
