Install Magento within its own subdomain on dreamhost server.

Super simple project. I need an install of Magento Comm Edition on my server. (Linux, Cpanel, Shared hosting) I tried installing it with QuickInstall, but once complete I cant access it by IP address. When I put the IP address in such as http://174.132.55.174/~example/ it just redirects to the old, live site using that URL. There is an existing store that I am rebuilding, so while in development I need to access the Magento install via IP. I think the way around the quickinstall issue is a manual install. Totally swamped, no time…

PHP extension “mcrypt” must be loaded.

I’m using Plesk / Virtuozzo so my server can be customised, need someone to get Magento from it’s current state to a working one please by sorting the server conditions.
