The 1st dvd was 3.4 GB. The menu when I insert the dvd shows 4 “files”, but once I copy and paste the DVD contents onto my computer, it ends up with 18 files.

The 2nd DVD was 4 GB and had 4 “files” on the menu that could be played when I inserted the disk. After I copy and paste it’s content, it is 10 files on my computer.

I used to manually place embed code for my videos in my database, but now I place the video url and sponsor url separately to provide more flexibility. I have thousands of entries so I don’t have time to go through manually. I have always placed the full path of the .flv file. So I need a script to do the following:

Locate any link ending with flv such as http://sampledomain.com/flv/video1.flv, and place that value in the video_url column. If it cannot find an flv it will place a default value.

I also need it to locate any link that is not a picture (jpg, png etc) or flv and place that value in the sponsor_url column. If it cannot find any link it will place a default value.

I have 6 SWF files and 2 FLV files which i require to be converted into AVI or MP4 files to upload to Youtube for a video training series i am planning on doing.

Project attached has been setup in FlashDevelop.

Flv and mp4 files are hosted on a CDN. This CDN can take Range header requests.

Currently the code uses a http library to make the range request and Netstream with appendbytes to play however only the flv plays.

The problem to fix:
Both flv and mp4 files need to be able to play and seek to a point that has not been downloaded yet using a header request.

I need left hand side of page that is empty to be filled with 2 vertical sections:

Top Section: Categories
where all the articles different news categories are displayed. Categories listed in alphabetical order down the column. By default the first category at the top displayed unless user clicks other categories to change.

Middle section: Recent Articles
whereby you list down in reverse date order (ie most recent first) the most recent titles under that “active” category,
until a maximum number that is the 10th least recent title. Otherwise the page will stretch down continuously, which is UNTIDY.

As for the central area of the frontend page, fill it with headlines first, ie titles of every article post WITHIN THE CHOSEN CATEGORY, for example “What Women Want” category, or “What Men Want” category.

Underneath every title, show the flv player and skin in fix dimension of 360 px by 240 px standard to the left. To the right, is first 40 words of the content, followed by “…[Read More]” Hyperlink the words “…[Read More]” , so that when user clicks on these, user will be brought to the full standalone page for this particular title chosen, to read the full content. Full content comprises the flv player and skin in given dimensions specified by admin, which could be, say, 740 pixels by 480 pixels, or whatever. The title still at the very top of page. The words and images (if any), and exact spacing between the words and between paragraphs to follow that same look they showed when uploaded into admin area. Admin can edit the font type, font size, bold, or italicize, or do both as it wishes by controlling from the backend.

Admin to be able to edit the words anytime from backend.

Lastly, there must be pagination if the content stretches to 2nd page or more.

There to be pagination on the headlines page, even though that is for the first 40 words of every article post shown (beneath their corresponding title and to the right of the contracted flv displayed with the admin selected image to display of course prior to the play button being pressed).

Note: The reason for pagination for the headlines page, is if the number of titles exceed the space for one page, for say 10 titles, so that the 11th title, 12th title and so on, stretches to the 2nd page of titles, and so on.

When I convert it online I get an MP4 file that is only 5MB in size and not very good quality.

I run a video sharing website that currently uses .flv as video format. Videos get uploaded and converted directly to flash. If an uploaded video is HD (currently the script only considers mp4 with h.264 as HD, nothing else), the script will make a .flv copy and keep the HD file.

The script I am using is rather old and an update is due out this year. I want to go mobile with the website and have to get rid of using flv files. I cannot wait so long so I want to modify the script so that:

- videos uploaded get converted to mp4 (h.264) directly
- it keeps a distinction between HD and SD videos
- the website’s Player (Flowplayer) will use mp4 as default playback file
- Flowplayer will fallback to .flv if mp4 is not existant
- Flowplayer will recognize HD or SD format

This will probably involve some changes to the database as it only has fields for the original file, HD file (if HD exists for a particular video), filename (.flv or .jpg)
We may need an additional column for the mp4 file.

I have a custom flowplayer integration that will allow mp4 playback (once the script is modified). I use FMS streaming.

The goal is to change the script so that instead of converting videos to .flv it should convert all newly uploaded files to mp4. If you are proficient enough, I would additionally want a script that will convert the existing library to mp4 as well. It will be a lenghty process but I have a test installation of the script in use where you can safely experiment.

Our site’s been installed with Open-Source Flowplayer for playing flv, ie flash videos. This was all fine. But when we create access restrictions to subfolder or folder that contains all the flvs (to prevent download of the files from the folder by our site audience), then flv cannot be played and we get the following error message:

“200, Stream Not Found.NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound, clip:’[Clip]‘http://yourdomain.com/subfoldername/nameoffile.flv”

Alternatively, we loosen those folder access permissions, and all of a sudden the flvs play successfully.

But we want both twin goals to be achieved, as we want to prevent download of flvs by our site audience, while enabling the flvs to play successfully on their PC.

Who DEFINITELY can solve the problem without betting here?

No need to convert from raw video formats to flvs, as we have converted these raw formats to flvs offline already using offline converter. Now we just need the Open Source Embeddable FLV player to play the FLV files. Therefore NO FFMPEG is needed.

My video site is using lighttpd, with mod_secdownload. Some other sites are hotlinking my flv files and they by pass the mod_secdownload with no problem. I need somebody to help me to prevent them from hotlinking my flv video using lighttpd. I will give you test link to test

I need somebody to setup a PULL script from my video (flv format) storage server. After you set it up, you need to instruct me on how to set it up myself on other servers.

This pull script will be installed on an edge server and will do the following:
1. When a client request a flv file call test.flv to this edge server, says http://edge.mydomain.com:81/test.flv (port 81 as I use lighttpd to serve files), the script will check if the edge server has this file. If it has, then it will be served to the client.
If it does not have that file, then redirect the request to the storage server, so the client will get the file from the storage server. Meanwhile, the script will fetch that test.flv from the storage to this edge server, and store in the location /home/www/flvs
Now if the second client request this test.flv, it will check again if the edge server has it or not. This time the edge already has the test.flv file, so the file will be served from this edge server.

2. Setup a delete script and add to cronjob. This delete script will check the diskspace. If the diskspace is more than 80% full, it will delete the least used flv files (or oldest flv files). It can delete until the diskspace is 60% full…

Remember after you set up this script, please show me how to use this script to another server, so I can add it to the other server that I have.

The good news is I already have some servers setup this way, so you can take a look and simply copy files to those new 5 servers. So you can simply copy and paste from my old servers to those new servers. You just need to insall php, apache and lighttpd.

We already have red5 installed and oflaDemo working, but we want to be able to stream flv and mp4 from custom directories (i should be able to put the path for the videos in a configuration file). There are examples about this on the red5 wiki, but i’m a php programmer and i dont know anything about java. The application needs to be able to stream flv and

I am using clip-share video script for my video site, with multiple server plug in. The main site is hosted on a VPS, and 2 streaming sites which are www2.mysite.com and www3.mysite.com hosted on 2 dedicated server. I use lighttpd to stream all flv files.

There is a serious issue with lighttpd streaming right now. I give you an example on my www3.mysite.com

I configure the lighttpd.conf of www3, which has mod_evasive, mod_secdownload (enabled) , mod_flv (enabled). mod_kbytes_per_second.

Originally, it is configured as below
connection.kbytes-per-second = 150
evasive.max-conns-per-ip = 3

If the server has below 200 connections, the flv loads as normal. Once it has over 200 connections, the flv loads very slow. I can say it barely loads. This server is on 1Gbps dedicated port and I have tested its speed. It can boost to 800Mbps with no problem

I modified the lighttpd.conf a little bit like
connection.kbytes-per-second = 500
evasive.max-conns-per-ip = 3
but it won’t help.

Then I decided to test loading the file via apache. The flv file load superfast with no problem. That is how I am confident this is an issue with lighttpd, or a bug in lighttpd.

I need a super pro who knows lighttpd to fix this issue. The connection.kbytes-per-second = 150 is actually enough to load an flv so I need connection.kbytes-per-second = 150, and the file should load as fast as it is loading via apache.

If you are interested, please PM me for my live site, and the test link that you can compare between 2 same videos, 1 loads from lighttpd and the other load from apache.

Here is what I would like:

I want to prevent the flv files which will be on a CD ROM from playing in a variety of free flv players.

I only want them to be able to be played using a FLV player I will be packaging inside an eBook / exe file.

My idea is to simply rename the flv fie extension from .flv to .njsecure (or similar).

The project I have for a programmer at script-lance is to get hold of LongTailVideos JW player 5 which is open source… add some code that will then recognize the .njsecure file extension and play it like a standard .flv file!

Then finally package everything up for me in a zip file which includes all the player files, an example 10 second long FLV file called test.njsecure and have that embedded in an HTML page. So i have all the files to then go play about with.

This should be a REALLY EASY JOB for anyone that knows flash and the JW player from Long Tail Video.
