513 Skin Disease Images Project (download images and place them in folders)

Folders file (download this):
skinList500.zip has all of the folders in it.

Excel file:
GoogleSpreadsheet.xls

For each folder in the skinList500.zip file:

1) Take the name of each disease from the folder and type in the name of the folder and the words “dermnet.com” into google, for example

“Acanthosis Nigricans dermnet.com”

2) Search through the images on dermnet.com and carefully select five images you think best illustrate the disease. The images should be:

- Full size (not thumbnails)
- Horizontal (not vertical if possible)
- Different from each other if possible.

*If you can’t find 5 images use the number you can find, for example if you can only find 1, use the 1.
*We are only interested in images from dermnet.com. If you can’t find the disease on dermnet.com, then skip the disease and go to the next disease in the list.

3) Download each image into the folder with the disease name (There will be five images in the Acanthosis Nigricans folder.)

4) As you are placing the images into the folder, record the URL in the URL column at http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhE30tC_YMWRdFQ4aktHVWNQZ2RmVWVja1g4UnNTMkE&hl=en
*Make sure you put a “, ” between each URL. For example, the Acanthosis Nigricans URL column will be “http://www.dermnet.com/Acanthosis-Nigricans/picture/22964, http://www.dermnet.com/Acanthosis-Nigricans/picture/23003, http://www.dermnet.com/Acanthosis-Nigricans/picture/22987, http://www.dermnet.com/Acanthosis-Nigricans/picture/22982, http://www.dermnet.com/Acanthosis-Nigricans/picture/23018″

5) After completion, place a “1″ in the “Dermnet” column to show you were able to find the images on dermnet.com. If you are unable to find any images for the disease on dermnet.com, skip it and put nothing in the column.

Search And Data Entry

August 13th, 2009 Comments off

You will be editing a google docs spreadsheet with 662 entries.
These entries (rows) consist of 2 columns, “Skin disease” and “Websites”

Your job is to look up the skin disease in the “Skin disease” column and paste the corresponding wikipedia.org URL (web address) into the “websites” column.

So basically you will be looking up 662 Skin Diseases (from a list), in google and then copying and pasting the wikipedia URL (web address).

To do this, for each entry, go to google and type in the name of the disease and the word “wikipedia”, for example “Milia Wikipedia” will return: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milia. This web address should be pasted into the field next to the Milia entry.

- If there is more than one website, seperate them with a comma. Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cystic_acne, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acne_vulgaris
- If you can not find a corresponding link, put 0 in the websites column.

Data Collection For Classes

May 8th, 2009 Comments off

Hello,

I need someone to help classify 15 classes. The classes need to be as detailed as possible at the same time should be broad enough for someone to easily determine what belongs where. Some of the domains I need classified are
1. Diseases
2. Professions
3. Places of Interest
4. Movies etc

For Example the Diseases Can be classified as
Diseases
Infectious Non Infectious

Under Infectious diseases we can have
1. Viral
2. Bacterial
3. Fungal

The above classes can be further classified to be more specific.
Under Non Infectious we can have other classes.

The project will constitute of following Phases
1. You will provide the tree structure for the classification of each class
2. After the tree structure has been approved (or I will request some changes) you will provide 15 examples of each type.

For example: If we stop classfication at Viral Disease, you will provide 15 examples of Viral Disease, Bacterial Disease etc.

Each Examples should be different and should be cover large number of topics. For example if you are classifying Places of Interest and say there is a category called beaches. Make sure you provide examples from different regions. Eg Name of Beaches in US, Names of beaches in Australia, Names of Beaches in India etc. I do not want just beaches in one specific area or location. I hope you get the picture. Similarly if you are classifying movies and see there is a category call Suspense Movies, I need suspense movies from US, India etc… You get the idea.

3. Once you provide the examples that I will manually verify the examples and make sure they are good enough for my use.

4. once all the 15 classes are complete, I will release payment.

NOTE: Inorder to Bid on this project I want you to come with the 15 category Names. The Above listed Categories should be member of the list.

I have Uploaded examples of Two Subclasses of for the Book Domain so that you can get an idea. There will lots of such subclasses in each domain. Each such subclass can have its own child class as shown in the text files.

This is a labor intensive manual work since you need to surf websites, see how things are classified on them and then come up with a generic class structure that will be applicable to most of the sites.

Thanks!!

Bear
