I have a number of databases with the exactly same schema, living on different hosts, so whenever I need to make changes to a single table, I have to run the same query on all db instances.
I would like to streamline this process by having someone modify phpMyAdmin to detect incoming SQL queries that alter the schema in any way and run them on each of the hosts/databases. I think an addition of an array describing dbhost, dbname. etc to the main config file would be the desirable way of handling it, as I would like to be able to easily add/remove databases affected by this code change.

Hi there, thanks for looking at my project.

I have a cgi script which allows users to log in to an account, and add/edit/delete records in a simple tab-delineated flat text database. The script recognizes records in a user’s account because each record in the flat text database has the user account code as one of its fields.

About 48 hours ago, our server crashed in the middle of a cpanel update. Our host restored cpanel but I think that they may have accidentally upgraded some of the perl modules. The problem is that this script no longer seems to be able to understand the two databases it uses … the database of user login info, and the database of vehicle records that users add/edit/delete.

Both databases are tab-delineated text flatfiles. The script no longer seems to understand them … in particular, it seems as if it does not recognize end-of-lines.

To view the problem, go to http://www.autopages.com/cgi-bin/cars.cgi and log in as “cch”, password “502sell”. As you can see, it shows 0 records. The correct number should be 50+. Logging in with any other account name is even worse, the login is rejected. The only reason “cch” works is that it is the first line in the users database.

I have double-checked and verified that the databases themselves are not corrupted. Many other scripts on our site use the same databases, and they are all working correctly.

I have also removed all ‘ and ” quotes from the databases. Until this problem happened, the script was able to deal with these with no problem. Now it is throwing error messages about them. I have removed them all, but the script should be able to handle them as previously.

Two important notes:
1.) This script (cars.cgi) has many special functions so we’re not shopping for a replacement for it … just someone to analyze why it’s not working and make the necessary minor adjustments.

2.) On our site, this script has a PHP “wrapper” that passes a cookie code into it. We have done some tests and do not believe that the wrapper is related to the problem. The problem is that the PERL script, as installed on our server, no longer seems to not understand the simple tab-delineated text databases.

This is the face A of a database project. Where i need to create the diagrams for the database. An E-R model of the data and an normalised Relational Model. Please let me know if anybody is able to do them.

There are 2 perl scripts you will be working on for this project.

The first perl script needs to have a routine changed whereby the script will read a specific URL variable and if such is exactly 1 of 4 variables then the script will display the respective html template. If the variable is not 1 of the 4 then it will display another html template. (Currently this script was designed to read the URL variable, check it with a database and display the respective html template, but it only returns the error message.)

The second script needs to be re-written. It will read the respective 4 text databases and print a table from LTR for each of the 4 databases if there are entries in that database. If there are no entries in the database then the script is to print a default message instead of the table.

All the required html templates are done and all the databases have been setup.

I’m looking for a Java progammer to write some data translation utilities.
One utility is to transfer data from Microsoft Access 2000 tables to either h2 or Derby databases (user to choose h2 or Derby). Requirement is to
(a) read the table design from the Access mdb file (preferably store it in a text file that can easily be modified)
(b) recreate that table structure in a new h2 or Derby database (preferably taking the table design information from the text file), and,
(c) copy the Access data into the new database.
For simplicity, constants required for the utility such as path & filename of source (Access) and target (h2, Derby) databases can be supplied as command line parameters, defined as constants in the code or picked up from a text file etc.
Utility will be run on a Windows XP system.

Second utility is to transfer data from h2 or Derby back to Microsoft Access, assuming same table design.

Purpose is to allow data in existing Access 2000 databases to be copied to a Linux system, updated there and translated back to Access format if required.

I am in URGENT need of getting this project done ASAP. I’ve gone through two programmers already and neither one could help. This project is possible, they just bit off more than they could chew.

SUMMARY:

I need two databases to talk to one another and to share information. One is a MS SQL database and the other is a MySQL database. The MS SQL database is the “parent” and the MySQL is the “child”. When the MS SQL database is updated, the MySQL database needs to recognize that information and update/overwrite its information. Updates to the MS SQL will never happen from the MySQL as only the MS SQL will be changed by user.

I have a client who uses software from ISPBilling.com called Platypus. The company assigns all clients their login ID but clients can choose and change their passwords.

Clients log into their account using the Platypus web-based software. They can also change their password from here.

Here is a step-by-step illustration of what needs to happen from the very beginning. I only need you to cover some of these steps:

(1). New client signs up and is assigned an ID and password.
(2). Customer service enters the new client ID and password into the Platypus software.
(3). The company’s Joomla-based website talks to the Platypus database, recognizes the new ID and password, and creates a new REGISTERED user on the website. This needs to be done automatically.
(4). If the client ever changes his password the Joomla-based website needs to recognize this and update the password on the website.

I only need help with steps #3 & #4.

I am looking for a script that runs automatically that will accomplish this.

(1). I need this project done ASAP. The sooner, the better.
(2). Please have prior experience. I don’t have time to let you figure this out. I am sorry but my other programmers have taken too long.

Once you have a backup of your content please let us know and we can continue with the migration. After the migration has been completed you will need to re-upload all content and recreate any databases and email accounts as well as pointing your domain nameservers to a new location.

Your old IP Address and hosting content will remain active for two weeks to avoid downtime due to the propagation of the new nameservers. After two weeks the content will be removed from the old control panel.

Let me explain how transfer to new server block works:

1. You should create a full account backup and download it to your local hard drive. You can use control panel tools to backup your data and save it locally:
- download backup of web content using WebShell tool from control panel or any local FTP client
- download mysql backup using Export option in PHPMyAdmin
- to download your mail messages through any local mail client – receive them using Outlook or Thunderbird or another mail client.
Please contact us if you need any further instructions on this matter or if you face any difficulties downloading your data.

2. Once you are ready for the migration, we will transfer your account to the new server block. Transfer itself will take 15-30 minutes and you will get a new empty account. Your old control panel will become inaccessible, and you will be able to access new control panel only. Access to your data on old server block will be possible only if you use old IP addresses of your domains for two weeks.

3. You will need to re-add your domains on new control panel, re-create mail accounts and databases. Then re-upload all related content to a location and re-configure this data accordingly to a new control panel specifics.

4. You will be able to check your web sites at new server using new IP addresses assigned to your domains by new control panel. If all is ok, you will have to change nameservers for each domain to associate them with your new account. It will take 72 hours to be propagated all over the web.

5. Your sites will be online during whole procedure, because the data on old servers will still remain accessible. After you change nameservers and point domains to new server block, all connections to your sites will migrate from old server block to new one.

6. You will have two weeks to re-configure your account on new server block and re-upload all related content. After this your account will be completely removed from old server.

You will notice on that page there is a “register” link and in top right their is a “login panel” this is the other database.

Both databases have an admin panel which is fine for me to log in both of them separetly to manage it. However for the guest on my site I would like them to have one log in system…dont want them to have to login on the forum and then register again to post a classified ad.

I want the registration and login for the homepage to use the vbulletin database….so basically same registration template, etc. When they signup on either page they should be logged into the forum as well…able to post on the forum and have the same usergroup permissions per vbulletin. When they signup on the forum should already have an account for the database on the homepage and just follow it from there…so basically you are merging two databases and making them one.

My phpProBid auction site was deleted due to an error on my part, however, the Hosting Company had a backup and they uploaded everything back onto my shared and/or virtual server and it needs to be set up to work properly. They also sent me the following message:

“…Please note that your previous hosting account had several databases present at the time of its deletion, however you did not have any databases setup in your new hosting account for us to restore them to. Instead we have placed a backup of these databases in the form of .sql files in the _db_backup folder in your account…”

I had NO auctions running at the time – the site was not doing ANY business so there are no auctions to restore. The site address is:
