I have a pretty simple excel data manipulation project that needs to be completed quickly. It can be done either using a macro or just manually copy and paste (although manually will take awhile). Four files are attached; three of them are input files and one of them is a template that shows what I want the output to look like. The input files have one tab per zip code (united states) with various demographic data for that zip code. Every tab is exactly the same format.

The output file is called “Demographics – Normalized Data.xlsx”. It includes three tabs, one for each of the input files. I would like the data transformed from the format in the input files to the corresponding tabs on the output file in columnar format. If you look at the attached files, it should be clear, just keeping in mind that the columnar file is the output.

If this is done accurately and swiftly, I have a follow-up project to complete it for many more zip codes for additional funding.

I need a simple data manipulation application programmed. It can be programmed in PHP and run from the web (preferred) or it can be a desktop application.

If you know how to work with text files and CSV files then you should be able to do this project. Here is a description of the project:

The application interface will have the following input fields:

A.) Master text file:________ browse button
B.) Word in master text file to replace __________
C.) CSV data file:_________ browse button
D.) Folder to save output text files______ browse button

Detailed description of input fields:

A.) The master text file will be a text file with content in it. There will be a browse button to select this file on the users desktop.
B.) This will be a simple text field where the user can enter a word. When the script is run (detailed below) the word entered here will be replaced with the word in the CSV file.
C.) The CSV will have two columns. The first column will have the word that will replace the word listed in B.). The second column will have the name of the text file that the output should be saved to.
D.) This is the folder where the output will be saved to in the form of a text file. The name of the text file that the output should be saved to is described in the second column of the CSV file.

The Process of the Script:

1.) Look at row 1 and column 1 of the CSV data file
2.) Create a text file in the folder that was browsed in D.) above with the name specified in column 2 of the CSV data file
3.) Import the master text file to the text file
4.) Replace all instances of the word specified in B.) above with the word in column 1 of the CSV data file
5.) Repeat the process going to row 2 of the CSV data file
6.) Loop through all rows of the CSV data file

NOTE: If column 2 of the CSV file has the same name as a previous row (the text file already exists) then the script should append the new text output to the file.

I am looking for someone to assist with simple data manipulation. I receive information from different sources; either in word or excel format.

This data needs to be manipulated into excel so that I can create a csv file. It is not complicated, but can take a bit of time (20 – 30 min) for each one.

The selected candidate would be responsible to receive the initial word/excel files, manipulate it into the desired excel files, and return those excel files to me.

The source data consists of student’s names, grades, etc and their homeroom teachers. The result is two excel files – One used for importing the student information and the second for importing the class information. Both resultant files have a specific format that you would follow including creating a unique student username with optional password. The username cannot contain special characters. I have more information and examples available.

Turnaround time is important and each data set needs to be prepped and ready within 36 hours of receipt. This data will continue to come in between now and October 1 or so with the heaviest load between August 25 and September 10.

Easiest to pay on an hourly basis because some may take longer than others depending upon the quality of the source.

Application runs in the background in Windows.

A new data text file is created by CapePack (no experience with CapePack required). Once a new file is detected, application will perform an anaylsis of the data. Selected data is then converted to a format readable by KepServer and then transferred to KepServer (demo version of KepServer is available; example VB and C+ scripts included in demo). KepServer then loads data into a PLC for robot control. Robot/PLC experience would be a benefit, but not required.

The data describes a layer pattern of a pallet stack of cases or bags. Most of the programming time will be in the data analysis. Variables include: cases per layer, x/y coordinates of each case, orientation of each case, number of layers, pattern of each layer, etc.

Programmer will be provided with typical CapePack data files (attached interlocking.txt) and an instruction set of how the data is mapped for export to KepServer.

Confidentiality agreement required. Hourly rate with progressive estimates preferred. U.S. west coast preferred but not required. Rough estimate of programming time is 20-30 hours.
