I have 100 live web sites that report news like a newspaper. All of the 100 web sites currently have the same design and are on the same Linux server. I want to change the design of 1 of the 100 web sites and then apply that design to all 100.

The sites are not HTML sites as things are data base driven so while changing the design, there will have to be some changes/integration to the existing control panel so this will definitely involve PHP coding as well as the design change.

Presently I can control all of the sites via the existing control panel by uploading documents/articles to each web site individually or by uploading the same document to all of them at the same time.

Some of the articles/documents that are uploaded are generated by RSS feeds and others I upload manually.

Once you have a backup of your content please let us know and we can continue with the migration. After the migration has been completed you will need to re-upload all content and recreate any databases and email accounts as well as pointing your domain nameservers to a new location.

Your old IP Address and hosting content will remain active for two weeks to avoid downtime due to the propagation of the new nameservers. After two weeks the content will be removed from the old control panel.

Let me explain how transfer to new server block works:

1. You should create a full account backup and download it to your local hard drive. You can use control panel tools to backup your data and save it locally:
- download backup of web content using WebShell tool from control panel or any local FTP client
- download mysql backup using Export option in PHPMyAdmin
- to download your mail messages through any local mail client – receive them using Outlook or Thunderbird or another mail client.

2. Once you are ready for the migration, we will transfer your account to the new server block. Transfer itself will take 15-30 minutes and you will get a new empty account. Your old control panel will become inaccessible, and you will be able to access new control panel only. Access to your data on old server block will be possible only if you use old IP addresses of your domains for two weeks.

3. You will need to re-add your domains on new control panel, re-create mail accounts and databases. Then re-upload all related content to a location and re-configure this data accordingly to a new control panel specifics.

4. You will be able to check your web sites at new server using new IP addresses assigned to your domains by new control panel. If all is ok, you will have to change nameservers for each domain to associate them with your new account. It will take 72 hours to be propagated all over the web.

5. Your sites will be online during whole procedure, because the data on old servers will still remain accessible. After you change nameservers and point domains to new server block, all connections to your sites will migrate from old server block to new one.

6. You will have two weeks to re-configure your account on new server block and re-upload all related content. After this your account will be completely removed from old server.

We have users who need to be able to quickly submit articles/text (using their browsers) to a certain website which will be used as a “control panel”. Preferable through a simple Firefox extension but I am open to suggestions.

An Admin then logs in to the website “control panel” and should be able to approve any submission with one click (also options to edit submissions). Then the approved article has to be submitted to separate websites which already have an article manager installed and their submission forms look like this:

I am a web developer working with a company that sells electric scooters online. We are currently extending the functionality of our affiliate marketplace – I am in the process of migrating the current marketplace to a solution based on Joomla + Virtuemart + VM Shopbuilder.

The objective of this project is to build a search bot that we can use to spider merchant’s websites and find new products that become available. We have affiliate relationships with lots of merchants that have yet to provide us with a product feed – so we are looking for a solution that will save us the time of regularly researching the product listings on their site. This search bot will need a control panel and the ability to deliver search reports to our web administrator.

As a PHP programmer, I realize that the accuracy of such a script will be rather poor. We currently have a custom script in place that we call the “Pricescrubber”. It contains most of the basic search functionality we describe below, so you will be able to hack through the existing code and appropriate anything you see fit. I will work with you to achieve the best result we can get while staying within our budget. We are also open to your own suggestions for the search methods employed here to improve efficiency and accuracy.

We are looking for the following features:

1. Search bot control panel (standalone or integrated into Joomla as a component)

a. Ability to add new merchant sites to be spidered
b. Search merchant websites by auto-filling the target sites search box with product keywords drawn from Merchant + Product matches in existing Virtuemart catalog database

l. Ability to run search bot via schedule cron task

a. Split screen IFRAME with search result data on top and result URL browser on bottom for the manual review of entries
b. Vertical listing of entries and matches with simple textual readout and silk icons for actions

3. Search bot to VM Shopbuilder integration (add product –> edit information –> insert entry into VM Shopbuilder database)

a. Ability to “Add new found product to catalog” that adds the entry to the VM Shopbuilder Import Manager
b. Automatically change match status to “Added” upon adding to catalog
c. Ability to manually edit the product description before entering item into VM Shopbuilder database
d. Save and associate custom description information with product so as to retain information even after future updates or price changes

So my other developer has gone back to medical school and has abandoned my project -. I need someone to pick up from where he has left off – he has completed most of the project but has stopped right at the most critical point!

The entire back end programming I think is done with PHP (using the SMARTY template system). I have a reseller account that uses extended control panel interface. i am allowed to brand it to fit my compnay. i dont have time for this so i want someone to look at my site and simply brand my extended panel. it will involve 1 banner and a html and css coding.

A client of mine needs a price quote for a new Online Radio website for underground local music. He wants the site to be done in flash and has already created a functional front end interface that just needs some modifications and polishing up, and of course the actual programing to get everything working as it should.

Here are the requirements for the project:

PHASE 1:

Site has a tab with live streaming music with a few stations such as “Rock”; “Hip Hop”; “R&B”; “Soul”; “Pop”, etc. This section needs a full admin backend where the site admin can administer all aspects of this such as adding radio stations, deleting radio stations, and scheduling time slots for shows etc. The stations must have the ability to play live streams from a particular source which should also be administrable from the backend.

Site also has a regular music player organized into different categories and artists and genres. This is a non live music player where users can select music to play. This must be administrable through a backend so that the admin can add music and categories through a control panel.

Throughout the website there must be a stats system in place. The site will keep track of how many times each song is listened to per day by unique ip addresses. Once 1000 listens is reached or a number specified by the admin through the backend, the artist will be contacted with special promotions etc.

There will also be sections fo DJ’s and Artists with a selecion of their music to listen to as well as links to buy there album (off site) and links to the artist’s home page. This must all be administrable thought a CMS backend.

Site must have user registration, and it would be nice to allow users to “bookmark” favourite songs and stations.

Site must also have applications for Artists and DJ’s. They will register for the site for user accounts and if they are accepted by the site admin they will be emailed a password where they can then log into a control panel to add their music and content where applicable around the site.

Site must support banners and advertisements manageable through the backend control panel.

PHASE 2:

Once the site is out of beta testing, Phase 2 will be to get it to all function as a application on smart phones such as the iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobil and Android.

This step will however come separate and I would like a separate price for the two phases.
