When a video is playing on my site I would like to allow guests / users that are watching the video the ability to vote/rank the video on a scale of 1-10 with one being worst and 10 being best. GO Magazine was an independent and highly critical website about DJ culture and electronic music in the Netherlands. It has been discontinued since 2009 but I wish to preseve the articles online indefinitely.

I had a logo designed (see attachment) which you _must_ use. However, this logo gives you many things to work with. It’s great to use the negative space for instance. See the attached archive for work done in the past. You should draw inspiration from past site designs, but not copy these. They are not “religion” (but the logo is). I also require the use of a serif font for the body text, since the website is all about reading. I am fond of the colors you see online (greys and yellows), but these are by no means a must. I do prefer a dark background over a light one.
Further requirements

1000 pixels wide.
Allow for navigation into categories, authors. A sidebar would be best, but I am open to suggestions.
Allow for a footer with misc details.
I don’t necessarily want a header; the article(s) should actually be more important than the branding of the website.

Design all the usual HTML elements such as H1-H6, a paragraph, lists, a form, a table. See for example http://wp-themes.com/twentyeleven/ which shows every common HTML ui element in use today.
