We need the information extracted into an Excel spreadsheet with the following fields: SKU,Name,Description, Price, imageFileName,category (section).

This is just an example of the catalog. Each item is called a SKU. Their are about 5000 sku’s total (about 300 pages).

Right now the extension make product form at the front end and when we fill the form it is saved in database and show in a grid at the backend then admin need to approve it. When admin click on approve it redirect the same product to catalog/product form and admin can save there. Right now we want to add custom fields for the product. I need a simple upload script to do the following:

1. User will already have password (provided from another source)
2. After user correctly enters password he browses his local computer (if possible, at root C: directory) for a file named catalog.txt.
3. Script will only allow file named catalog.txt to be uploaded – any other filename will result in error message.
4. Script should have Captcha code for security.
5. catalog.txt file after being selected from user’s local computer should be uploaded to same folder where this cgi script is located.
6. An Email should be sent to me upon successful upload ( Subject: catalog.txt upload; Body of email: upload at www.usersdomain.com/thiscript )
7. Programmer should provide instructions how I install script on each user’s domain, change user password, change url for user to be taken to after upload, and change my email (if necessary).

The catalog.txt file is generated by a program on user’s computer at C:catalog.txt. I have a cgi script already in place for visitors to view the contents of catalog.txt file online. I just need a simple,inexpensive, foolproof, secure means for users to be able to upload that one file to each user’s web site.

It is extremely clunky, hard to find what you want, and rather time consuming for me to add materials, as I’m creating pages each time. Having a large number of pages in WordPress is a pain in the butt on its own.
This was another method of arranging the information which is closer to what I want, but still rather clunky.

Now that you are familiar with what I’ve already got, I’ll move on and describe what I’d really like. I’d like to have a catalog of items with a search, a search that is outside of the search that I have for posts. You’d be searching only this “catalog”. I want to be able to upload images, probably via a zip file, and be able to enter a title for the item, as well as the keywords for the item in the search, and a date (some of the materials are dated, though not all, so this field would not be required for all items). I’m thinking the best way to accomplish that would be for me to include a .csv file in with the zip, where I would designate the file name, file title, file date, and keywords. Your plugin would then generate thumbnails for all the images uploaded, and on the main page for the catalog show the item thumbnail and title. When clicked, the full-size image would load via lightbox (my blog already has a plugin which adds the necessary lightbox code to any images – so as long as the full-size image is linked, you don’t have to worry about that). There would also be an option to load all of the items chronologically (any undated items would be omitted from this view). The last item on the catalog page would be a search box, so a person could enter in keywords, and be presented with the relevant catalog items.

In addition, I would like to have a widget made for the plugin, it will display the thumbnail and name of one random item from the catalog. Instead of linking to the full-size image, it would show that item on the catalog page.

Lastly, I’m looking for there to be a way I can include the results from a catalog search in a post or page (maybe there is some sort of snippet of code you can show me to do this?) This is more a request than a necessity.

We need an app created for a company that has a catalog of products. Here is an overview of how it should work:

-Web-based admin where products photos can be uploaded along with general information about each product.
-Admin input of store locations that carry each product.
-User can view catalog of products on app. When they click on the product to view information it will show photos and general information. Then they can click to view a statistics page of additional information, they can click on “view stores near me” and it will connect with GPS to find stores closest to their current location, and be able to share products through twitter or facebook or email.
-There should be an order option as well for retailers. They would login and they can add items to purchase. It sends in order to admin. NO MONEY will be collected through app. It is all billed out later through an in-house system. They just need to be able to places orders.
-App needs to be simple navigation and straight-forward. We will provide all graphics.

The app should be compatible with Iphone/Ipad and Android devices. Would also like it to have a web version to plug into their existing website.

Winning programmer will set up simple products for each style, then duplicate the simple product with it’s unique size and SKU – using a .csv file. All the products derive from the 26 “core” products. the same one or two photos per product will be used for the variations (sizes).

Once all the simple products are set up via the import/export feature, programmer will set up configurable products using the simple products, so that inventory in each size can be tracked.

Should be straighforward work from someone experienced with simple and configurable products and the imoprt/export feature in magento (this part is critical).
