I would like to have a business directory built that will list business’s in only one field.

It needs to have a star and comment system that are updated by users.

I would like to be able to post articles to the site for seo purposes.

I need the sites that are listed to be able to show thumbnails of the full website.

Advertising will be a major part of the site if you have suggestion on how to integrate this pleas let me know.

Home repair/maintenance service provider business directory.

1. Home page with search function for approximately 40 service categories. Plumbing, roofing, electrical, etc. Home page can contain some flash, but remaining pages none unless required. Category selector can be drop down menu, linked text, or web site search. Location search not required at this point.

2. Each category will produce 24 results/businesses. 3 rows/columns of 8.

3. Minimum page scrolling required. But I would like to be able to incorporate a small banner ad approximately 270×100 (I will create these), with company phone number slogan. Ideally, all 24 ads will be visible when visitor selects category.

4. Results/business ads rotate every time the page is viewed. Top left rotates to bottom right/everyone moves to the left and up. If possible)))

5. Simplicity/quick page loads.

6. My vision doesn’t include a lot of text content. It should be visually appealing, with a nice flow, and ease of use.

7. Would like to be able to ad pages for each individual company, to begin these would be blank, and I would design them as required.

8. I like the colors blue and yellow.

9. I began this project 3 years ago, still waiting on a finished website. It is now urgent that I get in complete. I have advertisers waiting. It’s time to crap or get off the pot, so to speak.

I have created a few sites with dreamweaver/fireworks. I understand there is a lot of skill involved, and I am particularly lacking in a few areas. hahaha. I need this first site to be economical, but plan to move forward with 6 or 7 more similar sites in the future and I am looking for a long term relationship with a dependable/skilled developer.

I am looking to develop a Business Directory Websites listing all Companies in the UK, later when that site is complete we will clone the site and convert it for the USA MARKET.

The sites will function similar to YELLOW PAGES or any other Business Directory Website, allowing site visitors to search for companies by the following methods:

Business Type
Business Name
Business Address
Business Phone
Business Category
Sic Code
Zip Code

With integration of the Third Party Plug-ins for:

Maps for either: (Google, Yahoo, MapQuest, Live Earth)
Sitemaps for: (Google, Yahoo, Ask, MSN)

The project will be based around the core functions of PHPMYDIRECTORY or similar script; we will install and personalize this script engine to our site needs.

The project is very simple and will be as follows:

Install and Personalize Changes in PHPMYDIRECTORY or similar Script.
Design a New Website Template for Directory based on our design ideas.
Parse and Install all Telephone Data on Server.
Speed Test Website through multiple simultaneous connections.
Launch Website after successful Installation, Design and Testing.

I was considering running the DATABASE on SPHINX for faster data distribution; I would like to know your views on that.

The data should be well displayed in a fast and timely manner. The database will hold information on approximately 2 MILLION UK BUSINESSES.

Then when we implement the USA version it will be 15 MILLION USA BUSINESSES we will hold in our database.

We want to base our design on something like SCOOT from UK, below you will see some samples to give you some kind of idea of what we’re looking to achieve.

You should be familiar with this kind of work, and preferably have worked with PHPMYDIRECTORY or some other directory type application.
