I have a Ruby On Rails site I am moving from an old server to a new server.

They were unable to set up the site because the previous host was using PostgreSQL and they are using MySQL.

So everything is set up except for the database dump. I tried converting the PostgreSQL database dump using http://www.lightbox.ca/pg2mysql.php but for some reason I am getting an error….

Need Inventory Application For Scanner Using Sql Database

Hi,
I am currently using inflowinventory (www.inflowinventory.com)and need an application on my scanner to connect with inflow. The wireless server I am using is TracerPlus Wirless Server (www.tracerplus.com). I installed the tracerplus application onto my scanner(Motorola MC75 mobile). I am able to connect wireless to the database using a sample access database from the Tracer Wireless Server. However I need it to connect with my Inflow SQL database. I would like the application to have Receive/Issue on the scanner. You can find a free sample template from TracerPlus Desktop called “Inventory Issue and Receive”. Need somebody to create a receive/issue application from TracerPlus similar to the sample to run on my scanner that will connect with Inflow SQL database.

Create A Website For Free. Please Look…

August 30th, 2011 Comments off

I’m an experienced salesman and entrepreneur from Toronto Ontario Canada with strength in marketing and advertising.

The website you will be developing if selected will be a web design company. It will be a simple development. I would like to promote this site here in Toronto and direct all work to you. You will also have access to the back end of the site and all work will be EXCLUSIVELY yours by contract. I will be using various methods of advertising such as print, search engines and social media. I will focus on targeting a demographic who is willing to pay top dollar for web development.

I will need a good and reputable programmer or team who excels in every aspect of web development and graphic design. Those without a track record or good feedback need NOT apply. I will be dealing with high profile clients and I will require a professional programmer who can respond to my request and provide quotes the same day or within 24 hours.

To put this simply, I will be your salesman. This website will be my tool to get you the clients. I will deal with the clients face to face here in Toronto and take care of all customer relations and sales myself.

I currently have two programmers doing some work for me so I will give them first priority if they are interested in this offer but please message me or post a bid here of $1 if you would like me to consider you.

I know it may seem crazy to create a website completely for free but this may just be the most valuable investment that you have ever made even though it pays $0 right now. Consider it.

Postgresql Duplicate Removal Script

June 27th, 2011 Comments off

I’m running a very large PostgreSQL database. At some point in the past a developer created a duplicate removal script for me. Problem is I have no documentation telling me what it does. I only have a link from where I can run this scriopt. I haven’t needed to use it in a very long time but recently uploaded new records to the database. I started the script running and removed what it determined to be duplicate records.

The problem is I don’t really know what logic it is using to determine if something is a duplicate. Fields were added to the database after the development of this script. Likely it does not account for these in determining what is a duplicate. I’m concerned running this will remove records that are not duplicates but have some fields in common. As I mentioned I started the script and after it ran for many hours I stopped it and checked the count. Many records were removed but I’m not sure what records. I do know there are duplicates in the database so likely it did fine.

The job is only for someone to locate the script on the server and write something explaining what this script is doing. I’m not asking to have it modified as that will be a seperate job. For now I just would like to know exactly what it is set to do. As stated, I have the link to run it but don’t see the script. You will need to find it.

Thank you for your consideration.

Postgresql Connectivity Issue

Fix postgreSQL issue that is keeping it from starting and make sure it is again connecting to the search form. Currently I see messages on the web page like this:

A Database Error Occurred
Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings.

Or like this:

Some Similarities To Glassdoor.com But Developed Further

April 17th, 2011 Comments off

I am looking for somewhat of a clone to glassdoor.com as it is currently. (basically a fairly modified rate and review script with some added job related features.)

I would like to use that as a base/core to then develop it further. Which means, should you successfully develop the base, this will be an ongoing development process to add other features that ultimately will be unique from glassdoor.

It must be in PHP and can use either MySQL or PostgreSQL. Open source frameworks to speed development are OK, with preference to Yii. I enjoy minimalist web design and presentation. The site will also be quick and clean code powers it. I am not interested in using a CMS or WordPress as the back end as that tends to scale badly and has very high overhead.

At minimum, the initial release should include all the features found here: http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/index.htm price this accordingly as other features and sections of the site will be added in phases.

Also, this will be in co-development with me once the base is completed.

Applicants who are aware of and/or has worked with gamification and community driven websites is a big plus.

Powerbuilder Programmer

March 21st, 2010 Comments off

Hi,

I’m trying to meet a deadline and im trying to fix some bugs before that deadline, the current programmer is busy adding features and also working on bugs but we need the extra help to get these all done by the deadline.

A quick and basic explanation of what the program does:
It monitors a database and when it exceeds certain criteria it launches a countdown and closes certain exe programs running when the countdown finishes. It locks them out for an hour and if they try and relaunch the exes within that hour it will start the countdown and close it again. So its kind of like a netnanny type application but its job is to close poker clients when it exceeds a certain amount lost.

The program is fully functional but some people are experiencing these type of bugs:

1) One of the tools that shows what the current amounts being tracked are is freezing, its mostly used as a debug tool but wed like to track down whats causing the freeze and get it fixed. (Vista)
2) This guy with the same problem above has another issue, when the amount is exceeded the countdown is delayed and doesnt run when it should, since we cant see the debug tool (see 1 above) its hard to figure out the issue (Vista)
3) Another guy the countdown and lockout dosent happen at all when it should, however if he closes the exe and tries to reopen it then the other lockout then works, this happens with XP
4) On XP aswell with one of my test machines the lockout starts and when it gets to the end when it should shut down the exe it just loops through and does the countdown over and over but never closes the exe.
5) Ive one other guy that gets a crash when the program starts, again we need to track down what causes this and fix it

So the thing with all of the above is they dont happen for everyone and seem specific to that user however if its happening to some people it may happen to others so i need to fix that. All of these users will allow you to login to their PC with Teamviewer to troubleshoot the issue, i can provide a test enviroment with the program running that you can troubleshoot, i believe Powerbuilder 10 is installed on that PC too.

You will have contact with the main Powerbuilder programmer to ask any questions about the code and how it works. What youll need to do is probably make a debug version of the program where it narrows down the line of code that causes the crash/issue possibly by putting alert messages into the code or whatever way you find easiest to find the issue and then fix the code. I think the XP issues are specific to XP, maybe it doesnt like the code as it was designed mostly on vista platform.

The database used is PostgreSQL but you shouldnt need to worry about this as none of the problems are really related to PostgreSQL and its pretty straight forward if youve any SQL experience.

So if your interested and have more questions please contact me

Google Android Api App

February 12th, 2010 Comments off

Our API is here: http://www.journyx.com/support/dev/

A downloadable version of our Timesheet app is here -> http://www.journyx.com/gendl3.html

We want to build a *location aware* Google Android application that uses
our XML/SOAP/WSDL API to

1. Remember the user’s login information and automatically log him in
to timesheet Allow him to alter it in case his username or password
or url to his journyx system changes for some reason.

2. Pull his list of available projects, billtypes, paytypes and tasks
This data should be cached with a configurable (# of hours) timeout.

3. Pull his list of drop down dependencies, where the billtypes or
paytypes or tasks you can access depend on which project you are choosing
to bill time against.

4. Give the user a simple clean interface for entering one timerecord,
where that record defaults to whatever record he last entered from
his current physical location, so that if he is at client XYZ’s
location it will remember that from the last time he was here,
but allowing him to change the entry to set a new default for this
location if something is different now.

5. Give the user the ability to see a summarized-by-project list of
the time he has entered for the current recording period (this period
length can be differenent for every user potentially)

Please include the phrase JournyxAPI in the title of your response
so that I know you actually have read the requirements.

Initially we will probably give this Android app away to select existing
Journyx customers, get feedback and enhance the app later.

Please suggest improvements to this specification.
