This is a reposting of a job from 2 weeks ago.
We have a number of small dat and inx files from an old, possibly 1980s, database. It is not known what program was used to create the original files. The data to be transferred to an excel format. A new database format is not needed. The data just has to be readable so we know what is in the old files. A new database is not necessary.
Each database has a dat and inx file pair
There are 36 file pairs
File size is generally between 2-190k per file
Data should be extracted to MS Excel format, one excel file per database. No fancy design, layout, or formatting required in the excel files. The data just has to be easily readable and in rows and columns so we can calculate totals, etc.
Column titles are required. The titles are in one of the files. (the DICT database may only be the column headings. We are not sure. If there is other data in the DICT files, please convert that to Excel also).
