I am currently looking at overhauling a local business directory.

The listings and the front-end of the website already exist and are not part of this project.

This project is to create a new membership area for the website where business owners can sign-up buy a business listing and manage that listing whenever they want.

It must be secure and robust as it wis expected that their will be 10s of thousands of members and millions of listings (there are currently 2 million listings in the database).

The listings will need to be paid for by Paypal quarterly subscription which should auto-renew every three months (must be integrated with Paypal IPN).

Customers might be the business owner adding a single business listing or they might be a group / marketing company / head office / government department adding multiple listings / types / areas.

As there are already unowned listings in the database it must be possible for people to claim their own already-existing business listing – in doing so they will receive 3 months free listing after which they must decide to pay or not to continue the listing.

It must be possible to have multiple levels of subscriptions

i.e 1 listings = n.nn GBP for 3 months
2-5 listings = n.nn GBP for 3 months
unlimited listings = n.nn GBP for 3 months

This must be configurable in the admin area by myself I must be able to change the values for the thresholds and periods and also add new ones at will.

The subscription levels must be held at the customer level and not the business listing level.

It must also be possible to flag certain listings as free (no charge).
In the case of no charge listings the contact should receive an email every three months asking them to renew their free listing.

This should be built using php5 + mysql 5. The system itself should be fairly simple, it should just allow bsuiness owners to manage their own listings, marketing companies to add multiple listings on behalf of their clients at a reduced multiple rate, and charities or government bodies etc to manage their free listings.

I can go into more detail about how everything should work in PMB.
This is not a hugely complex job for the right person.

All of the pages of this site have been designed by me. Very simple and clean design. All of the sections fit into the same format based on a 960 grid layout. It is important that the site is adaptable to ipad and iphone.

We are in need of the best solution, whether WordPress or Drupal. The main project archives page uses a grid format with the projects listed in chronological order, newest at the top left. There is a filter that would allow for optional viewing of projects by type. The detailed pages of each project are long and simple with description and title at the top and photos below (similar to blog format) We need a templated back-end which will allow people at the firm, not familiar with html, to add blocks of photos or text to each entry. They should have a choice of blocks with 1, 2 or 3 photos which would be automatically sized according to template or would have instructions for the proper size required.

There is also a press page where entries are added in a grid format similar to the projects. However, the press entries will not link to more in depth posts.

Also included is a blog which should have a plug in that would allow partners of the firm to write entries, remotely, from their iphones.

Finally there are 3 static pages about the firm.

I’m working on helping a large Christian News website come up with some very specific strategies to help them get more traffic, get more engagement from their traffic and monetize their current traffic better.

This is a larger website (around Alexa 15k when you add in sub sites)

The website has tons of great content and they’ve been making online and offline content for literally decades now.

NOTE: They already are #1 or on the front page of google for many keywords.

Some competitors with less quality and quantity of content are getting more traffic right now and I think with some effort and guidance it’s possible to even double the traffic and even triple the revenues.

What I’m looking for is someone who has done this type of work before. Someone who can fully study a LOT of data and help come up with great actionable tasks that are very well spelled out. I am looking for a experienced designer able to deliver an eBay template, and a logo.

What I have in mind for a template is “simplicity, clarity, and organization”. That is exactly what I am looking for. In doing so, I hope to see a template that will be heavy on images, rather than text. If I can say it in a picture, I would much rather do so than with words. For example, you could use a visa/mastercard logo, instead of saying: “I accept visa and mastercard”. Obviously, there will be a payment section where I further clarify everything in text, but the logo’s will be a very quick reference on their own.

I am also pretty big on organization. I want the template to be very clear to the customer, so there is no discrepancy or question. Each section should be distinct, and clearly organized. For example, there should be a section for “product”, “payment”, “shipping”, “returns”, etc.

In addition to being image based, I would also like the template to display the logo as well. Please keep branding in mind when developing the logo, and template. I would like everything to be consistent, but very well characterized. The template and logo are in sync with each other. The colors match up, and the themes match as well. Furthermore, the overall feeling is very unique, and totally untarnished by anything that resembled a cookie cutter template, well branded, and well organized.

I will send you the images that my photographer has done for me, in addition to some graphics, and images ideas as well. These are just some ideas, and the decision whether or not to utilize them in the template will be left up to you. Please feel free to add anything else as well.
