We are look for a crisp, clean professional design which users will find intuitive.
We are a custom product company and we need a website with a similar design to www.spreadshirt.com, cafepress.com or zazzle.com, customink.com – Also see livedesigner and wilcom’s deco network.
We will not strictly be using T-shirts we will have other products and want to be able to upload the product and define and limit the printable area.
All 3 of the above sites have different features that we like. Cafepress has the ability to drag your text, graphic or image off the product and a trash can appears and its easy to delete. But Cafepress does not have the ability to upload a number of royalty free images like zazzle and spreadshirt do they only have shapes.
Each has the ability to add text with a variety of fonts and resize and recolor the fonts.
They all seem to be able to detect the images settings and check the dpi so that someone cannot resize an uploaded image to anything bigger than would print cleanly.
We need to be able to manage this application ourselves once it is installed. Many of these design programs use the following: Adobe Flex AS3, CSS/XHTML tableless in the front end of the application and PHP, AJAX along with MySQL
Absolutely must be 100% user friendly and professional looking.
Users need to be able to save their projects at any time and come back as well as re-order designs they have already created.
Unless you have already checked out the above websites and walked through a design yourself using the available tools please do not reply to this post. It is crucial that we hire someone who understands our end users.
Customers should also be able to switch products midstream OR add another product to have their design on.
In the flash design tool, users will be able to select a shirt or other product (will offer unlimited in number of products available), add their own text, and clipart. Like spread shirt, users will be able to select product from design tool. Thumbnails of all available products will be shown on design tool.
In the flash design tool, users will also be able to upload their own images and add them to product.
Any uploaded images and/or Adult features will require user to reveiw disclaimers about age and copyright. User will click to confirm understanding of policies before continuing.
Flash tool will be able to calculate price as text or images are added or removed. Pricing will be variable depending on design and number of shirts. Admin will be able to change pricing structure very easily.
In the flash design tool, user will have all the control buttons as spread shirt engine, including ability to click and drag to resize image and text, Resize text, rotate, placement on shirt, position, flip, select shirt color, select text and clipart color.
Flash tool will have mouseover effect with brief explanation of buttons.
Clipart and fonts will be divided into categories and subcategories,
Clipart library must be will be easy to access and unlimited in categories, subcategories, and capacity.
In the flash design tool, user will be able to select color for text and clipart. Users will be able to create account, and save their designs. Users will have their own account page where they can view their designs, and track orders.
Mainpage will have typical website setup as far as columns, banners, etc. Mainpage will have left column with categories and addtional pages. Center column will have main banner with products (different types of shirts) This should be similar to www.spreadshirt.com. Right column with shopping cart, and Embroidery and Memories banners (see below). Top banner will have Logo designed by programmer. Bottom area will have useful links.
Programmer will supply all images and graphics. All images will be professional and contemporary. We will decide if all graphics meet our approval.
Website will be user friendly.
Website will have all shopping cart features, including: USPS, FedEX (including FedEX Ground) shipping, tax calculator, inventory control, shipping records, customer records, discount feature.
Website will feature two additional products on mainpage. These products will be for Embroidered items and Memories items. Mainpage will have a small banner for each with brief description. These two products will require slightly different version of flash tool, for instance:
Clicking Embroidery banner will open a new window with custom banner explaining our embroidery products. User will be directed to click to open the design tool, select a shirt, and upload their image and place it on the shirt. Pricing will be disabled on the embroidery flash tool and user will be directed to send design to us for quote price.
For Memories, similar but users will upload image to flash design tool. Pricing WILL be shown and available shirt color will be limited to WHITE.
Website will have additional customary pages for Contact, Returns, Guarantees, etc.
We will need a fairly accurate timeline for completing project.
Project must be completed by deadline and functioning.

Additional future uses could be for embroidery design in which case you should take a look at livedesigner which calculates the embroidery cost based on stitching. If we decide to add this feature at a later date we would contract with you again for this feature using the same layout.
