Please only reply to this posting if you have experience writing modules for Magento. Our base Magento installation must remain upgradable. This means that you *must* know how to write proper installable Magento modules. Previous developers who have worked on the site did not do this correctly and the first work you will need to undertake is to make their changes work as proper modules & upgrade the site to the latest stable version. The site is currently version 1.3.2.3.

We are a UK based company. We have a Magento website that sells natural products which vary in appearance and price depending upon which area the product comes from. The products are sold by the tonne and can only be delivered about 50 miles from where they come from.

Currently we are unable to reflect the geographical changes in appearance and price in our Magento store. We would like to add a special type of geographic category that applies a filter to the products on display according to location information provided by the visitor.

We also have normal products on the site so some categories would need to retain the default behaviour.

Changes to admin area:
1.) Additional attribute on each product which allows us to assign a geographical location to the product. Preferably this would be a UK postcode which is converted to longitude and latitude for precise storage in the database.
2.) Additional attribute on each product which allows us to assign a maximum delivery distance.
3.) Ability to create new special category that has geographic filtering.
4.) Ability to assign products to the geographic category.
5.) Validation to confirm that products within geographic category have location information.

Changes to front end (visitor experience):
1.) New type of category must appear in category lists exactly as the default categories do.
2.) On visiting a geographic category the user is asked to confirm their delivery location. If a user is logged in this information should be saved and retrieved on subsequent visits. The information should be saved in a cookie for the duration of the visit for guests and not asked for again on subsequent visits to the geographic pages
3.) There should be a prominent method for the visitor to change their delivery location.
4.) The delivery location should be entered as a UK postcode and verified against a known list.
5.) Once a delivery location is established only the products within this category that are within the max delivery distance of the product will be displayed.
6.) If a user continues to purchase a product the postcode that they chose should be pre-populated in the checkout.

We are looking for a firm to design and program a price comparison and review aggregator website. This website will however only focus on perfumes. The price comparison feature will be populated by product feeds. The review aggregator implies that you have to create crawlers for 5 different websites where all user reviews of perfumes will be scraped; these crawlers must be able to run on a regular basis to look for new reviews. Additionally, the product database for the website will include creating crawlers for 2 different websites to scrape specific detailed information about the products themselves.

In addition the website will also feature a perfume recommendation system using collaborative filtering. The collaborative filtering engine to be used can be found on vogoo-api.com, as the actual system is completed you only have to take care of bridging the Vogoo script with your final product. In essence the recommendations will be based on the aggregated product reviews. If a visitors mentions that they like X, Y and Z perfume the collaborative filtering system will compare the visitors taste to all the users in the database and provide recommendations based on the closest match and other filtering options. The website will thus also feature a member option where visitors can become members and thus their ratings of perfumes can be saved for future recommendations.
