Xname Assistance
Have two dns servers (one master one slave) that have XNAME as a front end for BIND. Starting yesterday, I am getting a message that says “Xname error message – can’t reload dns2″ which is the backup (slave) dns server. The servers are dns1.xxxx.com and dns2.xxxx.com – we make all our changes on dns1.xxxx.com and every hour it updates the slave dns server – dns2. If it fails, it sends me an email with the message above. The person that set these up is no longer with us so I am not sure what I need to do to resolve this. If I add a new zone or change something on dns1.xxxx.com, and wait an hour for the update, and then try a dig or nslookup on dns2.xxxx.com, the changes are there even though I still get the error.
I would prefer to have someone that is pretty familiar with XName – if you haven’t worked with XName, please don’t bid.
