Password Protected Directory

I need to Password Protect a Directory.
However, I do not have .htaccess and
My Control Panel feature “Password Protected Directories”
DOES NOT WORK.
I am on CENTOS OS With a Cpanel Like Control Panel called Kloxo
with PHP LAMP
DO NOT JUST BID.
Please let me know how you are going to go about supplying a fix.
