Paypal Recurring

I have a LAMP site with a shopping cart and subscription features. I have PayPal setup to handle payments and notify my site by IPN, but not the API for automatic recurring payment.
I want to use the following system:

I need all the standard features such as IPN when a user is canceled from the paypal.com interface. My site has trial offers and subscritpions by week, month, ect. that need to be automated.
I have a PayPal premier account with API credentials already.
