Cgi Script Error To Be Fixed

I have a CGI script that has been running for over five years. I backed up the script, made a simple change to some html out put in the script and it would not work anymore. Server Error 500 Internal server error, apache logs only show script had a ” Premature end of script headers: search.cgi”.
I checked all permissions were correct and uploaded as ascii.
So I re-installed backup original script with no changes and still received same error.
Need cgi script pro to find problem ASAP.
